2005 G 35 RWD with Sport Package

in comparing a 2005 rwd sedan-automatic with sport suspension package to a regular automatic g 35 rwd sedan,

1.what is the main difference?
2. is the car with sport suspension package faster?
3. do the 18 inch tires wear out quicker?

thanks

1. stiffer springs, firmer dampers and 18 inch wheels

2. Because the suspension has less body roll, you can drive it faster in the corners but there is no motor performance difference between each AT equipped car. However There is a sizable HP between the 6MT and the AT

3. Generally yes. The tires are more sports oriented with a softer compound which will wear quicker than the all season radials found on a standard G35

Actually the engine has a lot of different parts in it compared to the 05 AT.

Basically the 05 AT is the older VQ35 and the 05 6MT is the new design.

The sport tuned suspension also has a viscous limited-slip differential. In addition to the 18" wheels, the rims are also different and are supposed to be 25% lighter.

I have a '05 with the sport suspension and like it.

The tires will run you a little more, maybe $50 per tire (just a guess). Call me crazy, but I like the standard wheels better, just wish they were 18".

Yeah I will call you crazy because the 18" wheels that come with the sport suspension package are sweet. The regular 17" are too bland for my taste, but everyone has their own opinion.

I had a loaner without the Sports Suspension and it is softer without it. I guess it depends on your taste. I like mines stiff, like to feel the road more. The Sport Suspension is a little stiffer but aftermarket coils will be better.

The tires will wear faster and will also depend on how you drive and there shouldn't be any difference in fastness with or without the Sports Suspension engine wise.

My problem with the 18" wheels is they don't have enough surface area. It's almost like there is no wheels on the car, just open space. I liked the 5 spokes on the 03/04s better. When I picked my car up I tried to talk myself into the 18" wheels because a part of me wanted the sport suspension, but I couldn't do it. Just my preference...to each his own.

Uhhh....so, anyone want to buy the 18's off of my 2005 6MT Sedan?

As for the Sport Suspension Pkg, I definitely like it better than the standard set-up. However, I did upgrade the coils to Espelir units originally intended for 350Z. It handles great, but very significant drop...if you're not used to driving lowered cars, you might scrape up the bottom of your ride pretty bad.

I will post pix of my car w/ this set-up as soon as my friend gives me back my camera.

Anyways, the struts/shocks from the Sport Susp Pkg are produced by Tokico & well worth the $$$...especially since it does come together w/ the 18" wheels & tires...

Enjoy the Ride!!!

^-^
