Impressions after one week

Well, I've had my '05, Lakeshore/stone, prem. pkg B with sport susp. (adding the rear spoiler in a week or so) for a week now and here's my $.02

1. Love the stone interior and all the little convenient features that go with it (dual memory for seat, dual climate, 4 window one touch up/down, clean dash and console layouts, etc). The 18" wheels are awesome. One of the best factory designs i've seen in a long time.

2. Why is the emerg. brake on the floor? Reminds me of a Oldsmobile from the 70's. Kinda lame, but i'll get over it

3. I have the dreaded front tire shimmy between 60-75 Mph. Will have to work on gettin them balanced better or go with different tire cuz it annoys me too much

4. It's the 5AT and seems to lurch and jerk when in stop/go traffic. Not a smooth take off compared to other cars i've had. Left the battery disconnected last night (12+ hours) so I'm hoping an ECU reset will change responsiveness a bit. I'm liking the manu-matic feature though, it's fun to play with.

5. Haven't had the numb leg problem from the seat that some have reported, which i'm glad about since i commute 90 minutes each way

6. Also don't have the squeeky/creeky interior issues (yet). Do they show up after the car has more miles on it? I've got 700 on it right now.

7. Six CD in dash is nice, but not impressed with the sound quality overall

8. Of course the gas mileage sucks, but that's life in a nice car

9. Exhaust drones a little more than I'd like at low rpm's (must be getting old)

10. Intelligent key is coolest feature of all. After a week i've finally stopped reaching into my pocket to unlock the car

Anyway, bottom line is the car is great and I love it. No regrets at all.

3. I have the dreaded front tire shimmy between 60-75 Mph. Will have to work on gettin them balanced better or go with different tire cuz it annoys me too much - Yeah, even with new wheels, my shimmy hasn't gone away, sucks, it needs to die a horrible death.

4. It's the 5AT and seems to lurch and jerk when in stop/go traffic. Not a smooth take off compared to other cars i've had. Left the battery disconnected last night (12+ hours) so I'm hoping an ECU reset will change responsiveness a bit. I'm liking the manu-matic feature though, it's fun to play with.- I reset my ECU as well, and it worked great, no more lurching and jerking.

5. Haven't had the numb leg problem from the seat that some have reported, which i'm glad about since i commute 90 minutes each way- At 6'7", I still haven't had any of those problems either.

6. Also don't have the squeeky/creeky interior issues (yet). Do they show up after the car has more miles on it? I've got 700 on it right now.- Yes, your moonroof/headliner/seat/driver's side B-pillar will creak (not as bad as my 04 coupe, but still there).

7. Six CD in dash is nice, but not impressed with the sound quality overall-Quite the opposite, I am very satisfied with the sound, as well as the convenience.

8. Of course the gas mileage sucks, but that's life in a nice car-Haha...gotta pay to play, the power overruns the mileage sucking any time!

9. Exhaust drones a little more than I'd like at low rpm's (must be getting old)-Yes, as I think my exhaust is way too quiet!

10. Intelligent key is coolest feature of all. After a week i've finally stopped reaching into my pocket to unlock the car - Hmm...didn't get that option....but I did get the ever so crappy riding sport suspension...luckily, my new Tanabe NF210 lowering springs took care of that issue....

Anyway, bottom line is the car is great and I love it. No regrets at all.-Couldn't agree with you more. After owning 12 Nissans/Infinities in last six years, this is my favorite, bar none!

Very nice G...like the Slate. I've had my 05 for 4 weeks and I'm still impressed by the overall feel of the car.

1) THE most solid feeling car I've owned. Feels like the car is made from one piece of metal, no squeaks or rattles.

2)Black w/wheat. Ahhhh, my first Black car...what a love/hate relationship. It is sooooo beautiful when clean, but takes a lot of work to keep it that way. I was torn between wheat and stone, but like the contrast of black and tan. I don't see people giving the wheat a lot of love, but I'm glad I went with it.

3) Although the only option I went with was the sunroof, I'm impressed with all the standard features. I agree the stereo is a little above average, but could be better. Aftermarket is in the future.

4) 1000 miles so far...just 200 more of break in and let the REAL fun begin!

5) I like the sporty exhaust...no problems for this old guy.

6) Like the fact you don't see the G35 every five minutes (like the 3 series).

7) Tranny feels pretty good to me...this is the first AT I've owned in 20 years and kinda enjoy being lazy.

The G has taken all the best attributes of past cars and wrapped them into one vehicle. Looking forward to a long relationship with my car. And about the Black exterior....no regrets. Honest. ; )

Couldn't agree more, as this is one of the main reasons I chose not to get the TL. At least in the BMW, you can add all the options, and look more unique.

I just don't see a lot of G Sports on the road (Especially the '05). Has a much better "Gotta have it factor!"

Congrats!

if after the ECU reset, you're still not satisfied, may i suggest installing a 10-wire hyper-grounding kit...

Seriously folks, the G35 has to be one of the BEST bargins ever for a car of this quality and performance. I grabbed mine for just over 31K and can't believe the other cars that fall into this range that feel cheap in comparison.

Altima 3.5? Load it up and your well into the low 30s.
Maxima-even more expensive than the Altima

I'm sure there are more....

Congrats on the new ride. The issues seem trivial and an easy fix.
I too have the Intelli-key and love it on my M. A very cool feature.
Enjoy the ride and g/l with the fixes.
C.

May have more to do with the tires (Goodyears 235/45/18) on the 18" wheels.

Does anyone with the 17" setup have the shimmy problem?

Nope none here ... G35x with Eagle RS-A 17s. Was cruising on the freeway early this morning at 85+ and no shimmy what-so-ever. Smooth
