auto seat slide-back and steering wheel move-up in '05 6MT???

Does this option work on the '05 6MT sedan?

I test drove an '05 6MT with premium, but I couldn't get the seat and wheel to move "out of the way" when exiting the car. The auto G35 I drove did this. The salesman thought that it did work, but we couldn't get it to do it.

Can anyone answer this question?

Thanks in advance,

Andrew

No the 6MT doesn't do it. I found a good work around, I've set position one to where I like things and I set position two with everything back for easy entrance and exit from the car. I then assigned my remote to the second memory position, so when I unlock the car everything is setup for easy exit.

When I'm getting out of the car I pull the keys and hit unlock on the remote and the seat moves back for exit. After I get back in I hit 1 on the seat and everything goes back to how I like it for driving.

That's a good plan!

But, put is the "auto" "off" rocker switch on the side of the seat for? The switch next to the memory seat buttons?

Thanks for the fast reply.

Very nice work-around.

Sucks that they never seem to want to 'trust' us 6MT owners with features like that. c'mon now there's gotta be a jumper somewhere or something to fool the seat into thinking it's in an AT vehicle. I mean, they didn't SERIOUSLY rip out the exit assist part of the seat computer for the 6MT did they?

I don't think this is a good idea on a 6mt. If the auto assist actually does something for you, that means your legs are short already. Moving the seat out as the engine shuts down puts you at risk of letting the clutch out in gear. of course you could put the car in neutral and then turn it off but many people, myself included don't.

The entry assist would do nothing for me as I have the seat back all the way for my 6'2" frame.

Having the wheel move up and out of the way is nice though.

I am 6'0" , and I noticed that I banged my legs against the whell when I was getting in and out of the car during the test drive.

Flowerday's solution would work, but I'm sure my wife will want to set "2" for her. She's gotten used to having a setting in my mercedes, but I have 3 memory setting (on both seats) in the M-B.

I also am wondering why Infiniti put the auto off rocker switch next to the memory seat buttons on my 05 6mt. When I bought the car, the salesman was explaining this switch and saying it moves the seat for entry/exit assist. After having the car awhile, I realized that it is just a dummy switch for the 6mt as Infiniti, I guess, felt it was cheaper to just keep a dummy switch.

It's not completely dummy. It stops the presets from being selectable.

I have this feature on my '05 G35X....However I don't use it, i prefer to have the seat stay where it is. I find that it is easier to get in and out with the seat not quite all the way back.(I'm 6'00" tall) If the seat is all the way back you tend to rub against the door side molding on your way in. Also I don't know why you would want those little and I'm sure hard to replace electric motors spinning every time you exit.
