H-spec on my X Mon.Any words of advice?

I am dropping my 2005 X with Tein h-spec on Monday. This is soon to be followed with 18" (outside chance 19" )rims. Any advice, words of wisdom, cautions, attaboys , anything? I'm a little worried sick cos it is a lease and I don't want to spend money experimenting with one after the other.
Thanks for the help.

Here what I did:

1. measure the height before and after. You will know for sure the height of your car stock in each corner. That way if the stock height is off at any of the corners, you will know what to expect when the springs go on. This will eliminate any possible uncertainty that any of the new springs sagged more than the others.

2. do the alignment right away. Take it to a shop that can do both, install the springs and do the 4 wheel alignment right after and don't forget to get the print outs from the tech. This way you will be able to decide whether or not you need a camber kit.

oh! I forgot...tell the tech to cut your bumpstops (front) about the same amount of drop your getting. This will help improve your ride quality especially if you have an X.

One more thing...tell the tech to preload the suspension and then tighten it. This will ensure you get an even drop all around.

Good Luck.

Thanks Chico - I hold your rides (both of them) in high regard so I'm stoked to get your help on this. You went with the Eibachs - do you think they have a bit more drop? Compare the ride quality if you have moment for a rookie.

Anyone else.

Thanks for the props. Yes the Eibachs will yield more of a drop (1.1") front and back.

I chose this kit 'cause I wanted an even drop and because they are progressive springs and their initial progress rate is softer than our OEM Linear springs.

I thought these would compensate for the larger rim diameter (20") and provide the look and ride quality I wanted.

I was right and the ride on my car is very comfortable under normal city / highway driving conditions, but when I push the car you can feel the springs do their job. It is just the perfect set up for me.

I think you'll be fine the springs you chose. Just remember to tell the tech to cut your bumpstops. I know another guy that his ride was too harsh after he lowered it, but improved immediately after he cut his bumpstops.

Another thing to consider is that your X is 1/2 inch higher than the RWD, so whatever drop the H-Tech says will yield, you need to add 0.5", and that will be your total drop.

It will look nice for sure.

I want to do the H Techs too, but won't do them until I can get a sport shock capable of handling a lowered car. I'd like D Specs, but so far, Tokico doesn't make them for an X. So I'm waiting.

well, let's face it - nobody really makes a spring for the X either (I think our front suspension is out of the FX) but lots of guys are going for it and feeling OK about the results. I'm going to work the stock shocks and I figure by the time they thrap out there should be some options.
