Ok I hate the look of a car with a bra on - sorry but it just doesn't appeal to me. However, I know that there is a need for the protection it affords the paint, etc. My question is this - what are my options? I'm not dense - I just know absolutely nothing about those types of car things. Any suggestions, links, etc. are much appreciated.

Hey Cheryl - have no advice here - other than to agree with you - visible bras are fugly.

You're trying to protect your beautiful paint.... By completely covering it and hiding it from the world... Which essentially only helps to retain the value of your car, not retain the beautiful look of the car on the street.

So in my mind - it is totally without logic.

Clear or invisible bras however - well, probably money well spent.

If you don't like the look of a traditional bra your option and it's the best one anyway is a clear bra. They're available in different kits or custom cuts that protect different parts of the car- hood, mirrors, bumper etc. Find a shop with lots of experience installing.

I have never heard of a clear/invisible bra. This sounds like a great option. Any leads on what companies make these things?

And one other thing is a seat cover of some kind for the back seat. We have a dog and I need to find a good cover I can leave on one side at least. Found one that covers the whole back seat but it doesn't leave room for the console to work. Any one else have something that works?

Mine is made by 3M. Try a window tint co. or car advertising graphics company if you don't have any specailty shops or local auto dealer that sells and installs them. Here is a link from one of many threads you'll find by using the search function. I can't help with the dog seat cover issue.

Leave the dog at home. I would never allow my dog on my leather seats, even with a cover. Unless it's one of those 3 pound rat dogs that wont scratch anything up.

That's what trucks and SUV's with fold down rear seats are for...haulin stuff you dont want on your leather seats

I put a nose mask (what they call the car bra these days!) on my car, mainly since I drive a lot on highways and there are always small rocks that jump and hit the front of the car, so on my old BMW I had a ton of small paint chips. It cost a lot less than the clear bra, so was an easy choice. It does not look that bad on the black G35, and some people have even commented that they think it looks good on the car (I know, lame...).

Yeah, I have two border collies that I'm crazy about, but the wifes CR-V is now the dog hauler. I know your dumping the Pacifica so I hope your pooch is on the small side. My old Pathfinder was full of dog fur and the door area next to the windows were scuffed up from them resting their paws so they could sniff the air. Good luck.

Nope - not on the small side at all. He is a golden retrevier and we think collie mix. He is about 60 lbs. Pretty much calm in the car though thankfully.

thanks for the link hun! I am a little shocked at the cost being as much as it is. Now stop the insane laughter - I already said this isn't my thing. The hubby cracks up that those were "expensive" to me. The bad thing is that the closest dealer to us is about 3 hours away. Driving an hour to get the car is one thing but 3 hours to get an elective accessory I'd have to think a while about. LOL!

For those who don't know...protective "Bras" do more damage than they claim they protect you from. Dirt and moisture collect underneath them and usually create havoc with the paint surface etc. ie; scratches and discoloration. Imagine the road dust, dirt and grime that's trapped in between the "Bra" and the paint surface....throw in a little wind buffeting and vibration....viola....beat ta **** paint. Nothing beats a good coat of wax ('cept a whole BUNCH O' MONEY for that invisi-****/clear bra) Whatever blows your skirt up is cool, but stay away from the conventional "Bras" to save your paint. I wont argue on the necessity of wax but it wont do much for that small rock that tend to find its onto the front end at highway speeds. <----Reason #1 why I bought the Colgan Carbon Fiber mask.

This is only true if you never take it off when you wash the car or when it rains. I never had a issue when I had one. I just removed it when it rained, and washed the car once a week or so I removed it and reinstalled after it was cleaned as well. Only the people who never remove it are the ones who have problems like you say.
