"Crappy" Rearview Mirror

Since the first day I got the 'x', the inside rearview mirror 'shakes' when going over a non-asphalt surface or expansion joints. There is enough play that the rear view image becomes fuzzy. The mirror assembly is fine. It's solid and does not move or rattle, just the glass mirror itself.

The dealer ordered a new one for me without any questions. Had to wait two months for it but got it installed yesterday.

To my dismay, the new mirror 'shakes' just the same.

Anyone else have this issue?

Mine is fine, no movement at all.

My 04 has always done that - not so much from road vibration (a little though) but definately when music is loud! Doesn't bother me.

The only time my mirror vibrates is when it's reaaly hot, like now, after being parked in the sun, once the ac gets going, it's fine!

Mine doesn't move, but the auto-dimming feature doesn't work anymore (car is only about a month old)...so the crappy mirror will have to be fixed/replaced.

If it's a fairly high frequency vibration, perhaps a small strip of dynamat (or a dynamat-clone) along the back of the mirror would help to dampen and possibly eliminate the vibrations?

I don't have a vibration problem, but the auto-dimming has always been less than sat. It doesn't dim enough to suit me. But I like the homelink buttons. Does anyone know of a better dimming rearview mirror that has homelink capability?

IMO, This is the stupidest location for the Homelink buttons they could have used. You have to hold the mirror and use your thumb to push the buttons or end up moving the mirror. Plus it makes it more expensive to fix anything or replace the mirror. Volvos have a much more intuitive and functional location if you have seen those.

FYI...the garage door code is stored in the mirror. After my mirror was replaced, I had to reprogram.

I dunno. I kinda thought the same thing when I got the car home, but it's grown on me. The other car's I've owned with Homelink ('02 Altima 3.5 SE, '02 G20 Sport) had the buttons on the driver's sun visor. They're harder to find in the dark and smaller.

Where would you like to see 'em?

On the mirror is fine, but wish they were backlit just a bit. I use my thumb to push the button and my fingertips are on other side of mirror, so movement isn't a problem.
