Crack noise

Hi ..

My driver side window cracks when I hit bumps in the road, of course it did not do it as much when the tech guy and I took
it for a spin, also door was really tough in the winter and it was adjusted, but now when I open it, it swings back to close.
They tell me they will order a door stop for me, just wondering
if any other G Guys had the same problems or am I getting old

Re: Crack noise

Sounds like the window mechanism is loose and needs replaceing, and the door stop is faulty. No biggie bro. Not a lot of issues with the doors. Some rattles and squeaks is about all I've heard. Good luck bro.

Re: Crack noise

Thanks for the input, really appreciate it, made another apointment with a different dealer, says its quite common
with the window, just a few things loose that they will tighten
up, if my memeory is correct, did I see in one of your previous
posts that you had the G manual or specification sheets, thinking of putting in new tweeters but would like something
to help me with the install..

Thanks

Re: Crack noise

Mine does also, but I notice it after I roll the windows
down and then back up. As if it is seating itself. After
a couple of crack noises, it silences up.

God I love this car!

Re: Crack noise

My G developed this crack noise over the past 3 weeks. My noise seems to come from the upper window area. I asked my service advisor to check this out while in for an oil change. They could not duplicate. But, I knew that because it is very intermittant. Please post what was done to fix it.

Thanks,
Don

Re: Crack noise

My sedan has been at the dealership for FIVE WEEKS while they are trying to locate a crack/pop/tapping noise. It started when the left front wheel would hit a bump. It has now progressed to the point where the noise occurs over most bumps. Fortunately, they have given me a G35 loaner for the duration. It sounds as if something is tapping the window. At first, they thought it was loose bolts as described in the TSB. That was not the problem. In fact, they drove the car with the plastic inner door panel, the inner steel door panel, and all of the lift mechanism removed (the window was taped in-place) - and the noise was still there! They even removed the B-pillar trim to look for the problem. I have taken the car four times to two different dealers to correct this problem. There have been innumerable calls to Infiniti's Customer "Service" for help. A tech from Nissan was to fly out to inspect the car several week ago but he/she never showed up. A tech is supposed to inspect the car this Monday. If no solution is found then I am going to ask for a full refund. This is not the first problem I have had with the car concerning poor design or assembly of the body. Previously, there were a couple of body panels that were not completely welded at the factory. So much for quality inspection. Because of the number of similar problems posted here and the number of sedans with a similar problem at the dealership, I suspect Nissan has a basic design/manufacturing flaw in the sedan. Are there any coupe owners with this problem?

To be fair, Peninsula Infiniti has "made it their mission" to correct his problem.

Re: Crack noise

I have been having the same cracking noise coming from my dash as well. At first I thought it was just from the heat, I live in Sacramento and we had a few 100 degree days so I thought the new plastic on the dash was just expanded or something. But it continues to do it. I also have the window popping sound as well on my drivers side. I hope you post the outcome of your endeavor. I am still waiting for my dealership to get in the seat brackets to take care of the driver seat rocking.....going on over 3 weeks awaiting the part I am going to let them know about these new issues whenever I get to take it back in

Re: Crack noise

Hi. I hope "mydarkside" does not refer to your G35!

Sacto in 100 degree days, eh? Over here in Lamorinda we can get the same temps. My dash will "crack" when the AC in working. It is the sound of the ducts in the dash cooling or heating as the AC cycles. My Passat also will make that noise so I don't think it is unusual. If your dash "cracks" when the AC is off then I would take it to the dealer.

My Service Advisor tells me that the engineer from SoCal drove my car today and pronounces it to be fixed (of the window popping noise). I'll pick it up tomorrow. We'll see.....

Re: Crack noise

Hi. The production date is 09/02. The repair to the pieces above the headliner did the trick. My sedan now does not make any unacceptable noises. On the drive home from the dealer I went up Redwood Canyon and Pinehurst Road. A definitive test of chassis integrity with all of the twists, turns, bumps, and camber changes. There was not a trace of squeaks, rattles, or clunks.

I would not worry that your car may be at the dealer as long as mine was, if you have the same noise problem. Apparently very few sedans are affected. Also, I understand a TSB will be issued. This will greatly shorten the repair time.

Hats off to Peninsula Infiniti for their service. True, it took 6 weeks, but the source of the noise was very elusive. Once the problem was located the repair was immediate. Also, they gave me no run-around.

Re: Crack noise

Finally got the car in for a tech to drive and this time they were
repaving right in front of Infiniti, so he heard the crack as we
went over some bumps. Seems to crack more when the window was all the way up, his conclusion is it could be the window regulator so the part is on order and she will be going
in next week, love the car and love the G site..

Re: Crack noise

The car is back to normal, it was the regulator for the power
window, drove it all day yesterday and not a crack or bit of noise, and hit a few bumps on the way ..... wonder now if that
will happen on the passenger's side, anyhoo think I found myself a better dealer for now...

Re: Crack noise

Gboy,

Which dealer did you get your crack noise fix at? I'm trying to do the same and currently looking for a dealer with some experience. Do you know the name of the Infiniti tech who help fix your car?

Thanks
