I just picked up my car, and needless to say they had to resurface rotors too.. 1mm of pad.. that insane that it could of worn down that much! I am very appreciative of Infiniti's decision to give 3 yr/36k on pads and rotors for the non-brembo Gs...

Yes, thanks to Infiniti for stepping up with the brake warranty.

Nope, unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) Infiniti redesigned the brakes for the 05 cars, and (to the best of my knowledge) will not carry the same 3yr/36k mileage warranty.

I hope that means they do wear more reasonably, I would hope they would if there's no warranty!

How many miles should I expect to get on my first set? ('04) Driving habits: mixed of mostly short distance stop & go, and infrequent long freeway trips - normally "spirited" driving of course... I realize there are probably threads out there about this, but I'm here now so thought I'd ask

Mine have been changed twice now, I'm currently at around 30k. I have noticed that this latest set don't grip as well as the last ones... I may just need to bed them though.

Sounds like you drive similar to me, and I have a 5AT Sedan as well. I got 20k out of my front pads before being replaced under warranty. I've always driven pretty much the same and I've always gotten much better brake wear, so it is what it is with this car. I've never had anything that stopped near as well either so that is the plus side.

The 05 pads simply must wear better, because it would make no sense whatsoever to discontinue the warranty if the situation was the same.

Cool, thanks for the responses... looks like I should expect 15-20K based on your experiences. Since Infiniti realized the issue on previous models, I'm sure they made corrections for '05 - thus the dif in warranty. I guess I'll keep stock brake setup and take advantage of warranty work until it ends - then upgrade to Brembo, or ???... The excessive brake dust is a pain in the *** though!!! I agree jimNC, these brakes feel great to me too!

Angry Brakes 3 times on a 2003...2000km over warranty....

I brought my 03 Sedan in at 36000km and then at 48,000 and today at 62000. I called the Infiniti rep and the manager of the Nissan shop (owned by Infiniti) and no one would put it under the warranty. The first set of brakes all 4 brakes newly replaced for 3yr warranty 8 months later I paid around $150 for cleaning of the brake pads, then a year after that only 26,000 later I was charged 760 to get new brakes and rotors on the front and then new brake pads on the back and then 10 for the cleaner...hmmm not impressed now and these brakes are no longer under warranty because I have 62000 on the car but not on the brakes they're only a bit over a year old. The will not give me any warranty on the new ones.

Also got the window motors on front windows replaced and the electrical is now doing crazy stuff.

I love the car but I'm very nervous that after next year I'm going to have to replace the electrical. Anyone else having problems with a 2003 first run of the vehicle? I won't by a first production car again...

I'm really mad at the service and rudeness I experience with the infiniti dealership and the Nissan side of it were fantastic, I'm changing my loyalty today...

I hear you. I brought my 03 in that had 36.Xk miles because the abs light came on. The front pads were shot (they never made ANY noise whatsoever). Infiniti told me to **** up a robe because I was a couple hundred miles over the 36k limit despite the fact that the car was barely a year old (almost exclusively highway driven).

I tried to explain to them that my wife and I are ideal customers demographically and that they were being short-sighted in denying my warranty claim, but they didn't care. I would have expected this type of service from a lower end car company, but not a hi-end one. I also understand that brake pads are "wearable" items, but the mileage that the pads/rotors last on the G35 is SUBSTANTIALLY below average and is clearly a design problem. It is too bad Infiniti treated me so poorly, I'm going to be replacing my BMW shortly and would have liked to have bought a new M45.

Ultimately, I replaced the pads and rotors myself with better (read, not the stock crap) and will hope for the best. It is doubtful that I will EVER buy another Infiniti even though I really like the G35.

I am at 61,000 miles and have needed new pads every 15K and new rotors every 30K miles. Really sucks, but the brakes do stop VERY well.
