Maybe it will make you feel better about your mishap.

This is the first time I have been able to talk about it since it happened
Well Wed. I was putting the finishing touches on 9 months of work and over $7000 worth of hard earned dough when disaster happened to me.
I took a four day vacation to work on the Miata in hopes of getting it together in time for this next Wed's local cruise night. I worked on it from morning till 9 - 10pm at night Sun, Mon, Tues, and on Wed I had the car on jackstands in the front and ramps in the back doing the rotors, pads and painting the calipers. Once I had finished that all I had to do was the rears plus the rear shocks and put the new wheels and tires on and except for a few details she was all done and ready to drive.
Well I was having trouble getting the passenger front brake caliper piston to go in far enough to fit over the new pads and rotor. I thought if I turned the car over and pumped the brakes I could get it to go in all the way.
Bad mistake.
Stuck my foot in the car to depress the clutch and start the car, I forgot the car was in gear. You can imagine what happened. Car lunged forward, crashing off the jackstands, the front of the car slamming the concrete floor. Front bumper was broken off the car but suffured no real damage, both front fenders were bent and damaged, small damage to the rear bumper, drivers side door was damaged and my new paint job was ruined six ways to sunday. I hurt my arm a little from the car hitting it but it's ok. I wish I had broke my leg or something and the car not be damaged, I think I would have been happier.
Needless to say I am quite depressed and sickened by the whole thing. 9 months of waiting, countless hours of work, 100's of hours of scouring the net for parts and info and over $7000 of money I probably should have spent elsewhere and all ruined in the blink of an eye by a very dumb move by a very stupid person.
My body guy came and looked and it's gonna be $400 - $500 to have him fix the body and repaint. He came and got the car last night, he says 3 or 4 days, but he told me 2 weeks last time and it took over two months so I'm not holding my breath.
Anyone else ever done such a dumb thing?

HAHAHAHAHA... I am sorry it happened to you too! yup, you werent only one, it happened to me too, took my car out of bodyshop, went to starbuck for coffee, some lady pulling into spot next to me, guess what happen? yes she ran into very same spot that bodyshop had just fixed less than 30 mins ago
I kid you not! when I saw it happen, at that very same moment I decided its time to get a new car, if that wasnt a sign? i dont know what is then
but it was kinda my fault tho, I usually park at end of parking lot and walk half mile, this time I saw there was two empty spot in front of store so I decieded to pull into one on the right, if i had parked one on the left? nothing would've happen...really sorry it happen to you tho.
