At the risk of providing just enough information to frustrate, I recall that the mod for '04 is to put a switch in the speed sensor connection (a single wire) that provides mph info for the NAV system. It then thinks that you are not moving. Consequently, it won't update position until you flip your switch back on.

I bet it's the same mod for '05.

You will need to do a search, but I remember that the wire that needed to be spliced was behind the glove compartment. Somebody was selling an easy to install switch, but can't remember to much about it. The same person was saying how to get rid of the eula screen when the nav first pops up.

The previous instructions said to splice a switch into the speed sensor wire which is supposed to be white/green and on the connector furthest toward the passenger side. Here's a pic of the connectors from mine. I didn't see any white wire w/ green stripes on either connector. anybody know what the VSS wire is in an '05 or if it has changed?

*note: the white connector is the pass side and the grey is drivers side (pic is taken upside down)*

What we '05 owner's really need to know is,
if the mod. for the Nav. screen to play DVD's is the same as the previous models. I would like to see someone bite to that!

Great pic... but isn't that a white and green wire next to the red / purple stripe, front row on the grey connector ?

Anyone with a '05 wiring diagram, how about a little help !!!!

Thanks for keeping the thread alive.... lets get to the bottom of this !!!!

Not sure if this will apply to you guys too since its the coupe, but I doubt anything has changed to keep things consistent when repairing...

You're right. I looked through those wires at least 3 times. I was using a white LED flashlight and I guess it skewed the colors b/c that one looked white w/a black stripe when I was in the car. Now that I look at the pic though, I feel kind of stupid for never looking too closely at my own picture oops. Oh well.

And. Yes, the same mod works for the 05. I finished it out last night and it works just fine.

mkerley.....congrats

Glad to help because.... you solved a big question for the '05 drivers......

There were posts that said that this Mod did not work on '05's....

SO let me get this straight. You cut the white / green strip wire on the grey connector, and add in a switch and you can program the '05 NAV unit with no problem. Right ?

....... please tell me this is so...........

Exactly. Works just as described for previous years so far.

'05 Nav Moder's......

I know that you are all excited that you now know that the 05 NAV can be modified to be programmed while driving.

How about this "BONUS"....

I saw this about Homelink. There is a thread going around that allows you to mod your Homelink. You can use one of your Homelink buttons to turn ON and OFF your NAV Mod by changing out the switch with a RF receiver. The part is listed and the RF transmitter can control up to 3 inputs.

Do a search on Home link and it should turn up.....

It’s posted by " mohdds in Feb 2003 "

Check it out............
