Red face Rear View mirror - Filament

On my rearview mirror, right beside the 'AUTO' button to the left I see a small opening (hole) which has a filament in it. I can see the filament, it looks like an LED. Is this supposed to be covered? or just be bare open like how it is now.
It looks kind of ugly being open and able to see the filament.
I am in the office now, Hopefully when I get home, will post a pic.

The rearview mirror looks neat, except for that small hole.

Also, the rear view mirror vibrates a lot even on nice smooth freeways when travelling about 70mph. It vibrates so bad, that the vehicle behind you looks fuzzy. I did not expect this from Infiniti.

Please post your comments.

Thanks

My guess... that's probably the light sensor for autodimming mirrors.

Yes, this is what it is... Do not cover it or the autodim will not work correctly.

Someone put a link up a week or so ago that listed several service bulletins. One of them was a bulletin about the mirror rattle. Take it to the dealer and tell them to FIX IT!!!!

Can someone tell me where I can find the bulletin. I called my dealer about the mirror and he said there is nothing to worry.
If I can find the bulletin, i will take it to him and get it fixed.

The TSB is for fixing rattle noise, not vibrations, and it's for 2003 and 2004, not 2005....but here it is anyways:

When you called your dealer did you mention the rear view mirror vibration? Might be the result of another problem, such as bad tire alignment...

I have the same 'fuzzy' mirror problem since the first day. Dealer replaced it and the new one is the same. Infiniti should address this with the supplier because this is not rocket science.

1. You don't need no stinking bulletin to get a problem fixed.

2. If you do not see the LED glowing green it means that you have the auto dim feature turned off. Also, it will glow red when you push a home link button.
