Brand New '05 Sedan 6mt
I picked up my new G yesterday. The car is just amazing. I've been spending a lot of time just looking at the damn thing
I love the way it drives and it takes all my willpower to keep it below 4k rpms. I still have 1000 miles to go to get thru the break-in period
My dealer experience was exceptional. They were all very laid back and always gave me straight answers and never tried to work any bull**** with me. Here are the details of the deal and what I bought.
'05 Sedan 6mt - Lakeshore Slate with Stone Interior
Price was 33,100 (plus TTL). Out the door price was 35,273 (includes TTL). They also gave me a free voucher for paintless dent repair that can be redeemed within the first 90 days (hopefully won't need it).
A lot of you helped me with questions. See this thread

Thanks to all of you who helped. I'm very happy with the car.
A couple minor issues that bother me. First, the vibrating shifter is odd for such a nice car. It's not terrible, but it definitely seems out of place compared to the composure of the rest of the car. Second, as has been noted here many times, the 1-2 shift is difficult to pull off smooth. I'm sure I'll master it soon enough though. Last, I found some chipped paint on the B pillar in between the windows where the colum is painted black. I'm going to try to get the dealer to touch it up, since it had to have been from them.

I agree the 1-2 shift is hard to pull off smoothly when the car is still warming up. I have found that after driving for a bit, the 1-2 shift is much easier to complete smoothly!
what break in period? i drove my then brand spanking new(7miles on odo) sedan right off the lot just like any other ordinary day....didn't redline it nor baby it......i did the same thing with my 2k 5sp maxima too.......oh yeah, that little shaking/throbbing on the stick is letting you know of alll the horses under there....hehe...i think it's pretty cool......mod it you'll look at the d@m thing even more!.....just like when i put on the 18" coupe wheels....i do double takes....weird?!

Congrats on the new ride bro. Sounds like a good deal.
Don't over baby the ride.....an occasional venture to 5 or 6k is cool, and probably good for it.
Enjoy.

I should also add that they included a pinstripe with a small Infiniti logo down the upper edge of the sides. When my saleslady told me about it over the phone, I was thinking I wouldn't want it. However, I told her to leave it on for now and if I didn't like it, they would take it off for me later. I think it's nice and is really growing on me. So, that was another little adder that was thrown into the deal for free. I'll try to get some pics later tonight or tomorrow to show you all.

Congrats hun!! Glad you are happy with the new ride. Sounds like a pretty good deal too. Can't say that I agree with not babying it through the break in but to each his own.
Can't wait to see the pics!
I don't know what you guys are talking about with this 1st to 2nd shift thing though. It just doesn't seem like it's any different than any other gear to me. Maybe girls just drive it better.

How do you compare the two cars, no that you've gone a few miles w/ both rides?
Can you discuss pros and cons?
Congrats on your new ride. I've found out the only way to smooth out the 1-2 shift is to give it a little more gas....as in accelerate a little faster. Hey this car is telling you to kick some *****...hehe
Congrats...I just passed the break-in period and now I'm ready to really open her up, although the gas is gonna kill me now, oh well. I found for the 1-->2 shift you really have to let the clutch out slowly, it's hard to do when you just want to see what the car has, but you'll get it. Took me about 1000 miles to get everything going smoothly. Anyway, be sure to post your mods, I didn’t' think I would do any but it only took a few weeks and bam there it was.
I get the impression a lot of people are going from the 5th gen maxima to the G. I also had the stick 2k max and have 1300 miles on my G. I also couldn't last the entire break in period without speeding things up a little, and this weekend got on it real hard with 4 passengers in the car. It still handles/pulls very well. I wonder if I sacrificed any performance by getting on it with only 500 miles, but I suppose it'll take a dyno run to figure that out. I seem to be getting 22 mpg so far. Has anyone dynoed an 05 6mt (stock)???
the maxima was just roomier and feels it in the handling dept, especially cornering........however, with it being slightly modded with intake, crank pulley, y-pipe, 21lbs 18" wheels and a JET Performance module(tricking ecu to give more fuel and changing a/f to compensate), i still feel my maxima(traded it in) had a stronger 3rd gear pull from 60mph roll......weird as it may sound....it may be due the gearing as well...ie staying in gear a little bit longer in the 5sp vs 6sp........
My modded G: headers, y-pipe, crank pulley, 18" Z track wheels, kn panel filter and 350z springs will round corners effortlessly and the launch out of them is awesome.....the ride comfort and overall interio design goes to the G as well.........my last dyno numbers pre headers and 1/2 plenum spacer....245hp and 243tq as measured at the hub....(wheels removed and the apparatus attached to it)..
