6mt with aero...tinting problem...please help

Thanks in advance for your help on this one.

I have a 2005 6mt with factory installed aero (rear spoiler). I am sure you can all picture on non aero sedans where the 3rd brake light on the rear deck is. On my car that light is on the spoiler therefore the area in question on the rear deck is covered in the same material the deck is made out of. Looks the exact same as non-aero just no light.

This is my problem.

I am supposed to have the car tinted tomorrow. My tinter said he can not tint under the area in question and would have to cut around it (no space between the area and glass) as if it were the same as those with lights. He has informed me that there is no way to secure the film and get the bubbles out in that area.

That's B.S. from the tinter !! Go to the mods section of the forum, tell what city/state you live in or near, and usually someone can refer you to a knowledgeable, competent tinter who will do the job right.

I found Wil in the SF Bay Area for my '04 with Premium & Aero Packages (meaning I have the big BOSE hump, subwoofer, I think, in the center of my package tray, without the rear brake light, too), and he knows how to tint that back window (there is about 1/8 inch or less clearance between the hump and the window - it doesn't actually touch the glass).

Don't mess with a "one size fits all" tinter - get someone who knows the "G" (Wil owned a Coupe & a Sedan when he did mine - "Wil Knows G's").

My $0.02

find a new tinter. That area is easily tinted by a skilled tinter.

Find another tint place! They are full of S***. If they know what they are doing they can tint it just fine.

Yep, your tinter has obviously never done our car or is just plain lazy... You do not cut around the raised area in the rear deck lid - he should be able to tint the entire window without a problem. Where are you located, I'm sure you can get plenty of referrals if you give a general location.

Thanks for the feedback. I was messing around and I could get a rubber spatula in there. If I could do it there is no reason why he couldn't. I am in Northern New Jersey. If anyone has a reccomendation I am all ears.

Thanks again.

I agree with the others. Mine os done all the way down. My tinter gave the "oohhhh great" when he saw it, but it came out perfectly. Apparently, it wasn't too hard.

Take it somewhere else. Tinters that can't tint over the 3rd brake light shouldn't be tinting. I have never had a issue with good tinters that go over the third brake light. It isn't that hard to slide a sheet of tint down over the light or no light.
