Stop drop and roll

About two months ago I bought a set of Eibach Pro Kit springs. I just needed a day to do it and it finally came yesterday. Here is what I started with. Stock sport suspension and springs. With low profile tires, the large fender gap makes it look like a 4X4.

The rear springs went on in a snap. It only took about 30 minutes per side

The fronts were a pain in the A$$. Getting them out wasn’t so bad; it’s just that the top nut on really tight. I tried an air impact wrench with no luck. When you put a breaker bar to it, it would just spin and there was no way to hold the strut shaft. I am sure there is a tool that does this but I didn’t have one so I had to improvise. My neighbor is pretty handy and we were able to mill a 17MM sock down and weld it to a long bar. We were able to turn the nut while holding a wrench on the flats of the strut rod. In the end I was able to get them off and replace the springs

Here are some finished shots, I really like the drop.

Nice drop, looks great. How much was it lowered?

OT, but do you know if the Eibach Pro Kit will work for the G35x?

Thanks guys. the drop was about 1" all around. we'll see if the springs settle a little in the next coming weeks.

Not sure if these springs would work on an X. The rear should be the same but I have never seen how the front end is configured.

ELF is just part of my License plate that was given to me by the state. Some people think it's a personalized plate and aske me what it means. for pics I just erase the numbers.

Nice job shodog. How does the car ride now with the combination of springs, tires and wheels? See ya on the streets of the Bay Area.

Really I don't notice any real difference from the stock sport springs. Eibachs are progressive so the intial hit is softer than stock.

Are you going to need to roll the rear fenders?

I had rolled the fenders before I dropped it. The passenger side was rubbing on hard hits. Since the roll, no more rubbing

How much does it cost to roll the fenders? Are there any disadvantages to rolling the fender, such as appearance? (Sorry for my noobish questions)

It didn't cost anything for me. Just my time and a wood baseball bat. I only rolled the top of the fender where the tire would rub. From the exterior you cannot tell any difference. Take a look

I need to do a bit of fixing as the paint is not flexible and it cracked where I was rolling it. I will sand and prime the area then touch it up with my airbrush
