If you're going to change the oil your self (regularly), I recommend the Fumoto Oil Drain Plug. No washer to replace. It makes for a clean and simple oil change.

Another helpful note for folks that are planning on changing the oil themselves is to invest in wingnuts. . . A stick of all thread and a handful of wingnuts have made removing the cover a much quicker process.

That's sounds like an AWESOME idea. So what did you do... just stick the wingnuts to the head of each bolt? I'm one of those who like visuals... can you post a pic up?

i've considered this... but was also thinking about using the pop in clips. like the center one. anyone change all of them to this? thought it may be easier.

I've broken enough pop-clips in my life not to even think about using them. I view pop-clips the same way I view valve spring retainers. They're necessary evils that I hate handling.

I'll get some pictures and look at the thread pitch the next time I crawl under my car. If anyone is interested I can put together something like an Oil Access Kit for the forum. Let's not continue to hijack this thread, shoot me a PM if you want to talk about the potential for a kit.

Raul's question about 14 bolts piqued my interest and I visited the 'oil change site'. Good job, by the way! One would think that Nissan would provide an access panel for the oil drain plug rather than require a tech to remove the entire belly pan! Hey, even my lowly Subie has one and BMW 5-Series cars have been so equipped for years and years.
