I am setting my rev indicator down to 2500 RPMs. Thanks for the heads up. The whole thing is so unfair-you go 70 on the Parkway and get nailed by some guy under orders to write tickets and it costs you a couple of thousand dollars in NJ with the cost of the ticket and insurance and registration surcharges for 3 yrs. To promote safe driving yes, to raise revenue absolutely NO. When will the politicians realize this-oh I forgot they are the ones who benefit from this.

Each active car consumes about 3 gallons per hour (flooring it, the braking, then hiding, then flooring it, then braking, etc.) - $250,000
One ticket every 10 minutes per active vehicle, 216,000 tickets to write over 30 days at about 5 minutes per ticket. 18,000 hours of lost time, wages, efficiency of ecomony and output at approx. $30 per hour average value - $540,000 lost output
Average ticket receiver blows $10 to drink his sorrows away - $2.2 million
Looks like they won't even pocket half of what they bring in...
Don't get me started on the psychological effects of all this crap on the citizens.

My feeling is that it'll go longer than 30 days. They did this in May also. The state is looking for all sorts of ways to address a budget deficit. They may raise the gas tax. Right now NJ is one of the cheapest states for gasoline. It's also one of the harshest states for speeding. It's not just the ticket, you also pay a surcharge plus insurance hike, etc... pretty costly to the driver.

am i the only one that actually read the article?
ITS A FALSE MYTH
i go to school and work in nj, along with having many family/friends on the job and its not that they are cracking down, its just like the website says MORE COPS=MORE TICKETS.
in other words theres been a crackdown since they started their hiring sphere in feb (courtesy of federal money)
fyi the number of marked cruisers have gone down, they are moving more and more to crown vics unmarked with tints, also watch for relatively loud colors like the blue or red, they are popular on the i-95

First of all, this is a little old.. I posted this slightly late in the NJ regional section, and it was considered by some BS and some real, and some real to an extent.. The 30 day thing would have already been over at this point, or over in 5 days from today.
This was just a fake e-mail craze that was going around. Whether or not cops are actually coming down on these major interstate highways, I dont know. It might be true to a certain extent, but the variations of the warning that has been going around must be exaggerated to a certain point.
NJ speed limits are all BS, and there is an obvious blatant disregard for them.. You won't find a soul doing under 55 on the turnpike near the bridge/tunnel split to the newark airport. Getting a ticket these days is really more of a wrong place at the wrong time deal, as cops can pretty much pull over any car on the road if they felt like it, since I dont think anyone actually does exactly or under the speed limit.
