Questions about clutch

hi all,

i have a 2005 6MT sedan and love it! i do have some questions for other 6MT owners in regards to the clutch.

- my clutch has a clicking sound when i depress the clutch. it is most noticeable when i double clutch quickly. does this sound occur for others? i have not had this sound occur on any of my previous manual shifters.

- when i have gone WOT, my clutch feels like it stays depressed about half way until i let of the gas... this doesn't seem normal to me, but is it? it happens in 1st and 2nd gear... i let off the throttle in 3rd since i don't have a safe place to go that fast around here. the first time it happened, it was a surprise as i felt for the clutch, and it wasn't where it was suppose to be.

otherwise, my clutch feels fine and works fine. i haven't hammered the car hard much, but am concerned about the clutch during WOT operation. boy, this sedan can GO!

any help would be appreciated!

I definitely have not noticed that on mine, although I can't say I've ever still had the clutch down when giving it WOT. I like to drive fast but not abuse it mechanically. If the pedal is sticking down during WOT I would think there's significant clutch wear going on, so I suggest you stop doing that. :-) I've never heard any clicking sounds, either.

I don't feel, or hear any of these issues in my G. I suggest you bring it in and have them look at the clutch. LOL

yea that has happened to me before when the clutch is kind of "stuck" and it doesn't want to fvcking come out. i havn't taken it in yet. it only happens when i'm peeling out or trying to launch hard. i rarely do that anyway but when i do, i try to escape it. ie: have the clutch just a tad more out than before.

same thing

I have experienced the same noise. I figured out that it is a "popping" sound or "click" when I really work the clutch quickly. It makes the same sound for me if I let the clutch up the last inch of travel quickly, w/ or w/o the engine running. Try this and see if it is the same sound. I think it is a case of not letting off the pedal smoothly. When I try to smooth it out, the sound goes away.

could the clicking from the clutch be something related to the clutch master cylinder?

sticky clutch? maybe some sort of clutch dampening device?

i'm not sure...

I just noticed the same sound on my 05 6MT this morning. When I engage/disengage the clutch quickly I hear that clicking noise. This happens regardless of if the car is running or turned off. Goes away if I clutch slowly. Weird. I'm still in breakin period (staying <4000 RPMs with occasional peaks to 4500) and about 700 miles... I'll have to keep an eye on it for next day or so to see if it goes away.

Mik, let me know if you have any changes in the click and I'll do the same...

I have the same click sound with the clutch. However, I also noticed that it is only there when the car is "cold". After driving for a bit, it goes away. This leads me to believe that it is some kind of lube issue.

I have not noticed any of the issues / sounds you mention in my 04.5 6MT sedan. I believe that there is a plunger type of switch that is in contact with the clutch pedal arm. Perhaps the clicking noise is the plunger switch??? You may want to check that out.

05 6MT Help

Hi, anyone have this problem

My 05 G35 is making a high pitching(whistling - sometimes short, sometimes 2-5 seconds) noise form day one. It does not happen all the time but some times when I reduce the speed or down shift it occurs. The Dealer told me that happens because Infiniti designed a new transmission, and all 2005 G35 6MT make this high pitching (Whistling) noise. At the same dealership I drove another 6MT and that car did not make any noise.at this point I am not sure that noise come from transmission your response will be appreciated.
