Two annoying sounds inside cabin new G35x

Have a new G35x... 1200 miles
I have two really annoying sounds
1) creaking sound coming from the aluminum trim around the shift ****
i found that the "elevated box trim" that houses the gear markers moves around... and the aluminum trim is not "tight"... i can press down on it and it will start "creaking"... the sound is worst when driving over rough road... i'm pretty sure that this is the area of the problem because while driving i press down on that area and the sound stops... but once i take my hand off it starts up again... its not particularly loud but it is very annoying... when the radio is on, which it usually is, it drowns out the sound but it is still disconcerting

2) popcorn or "static" sound coming from above the ac vent on the left side of the steering wheel... i've pinned the sound to that area particularly this "meshy" area on the door right by that ac vent... it really sounds like static but the radio isn't on

anyone else having these annoying sounds... and any solutions
thanks

Hate to kick ya when you're down, but the creaking and annoying sounds only seem to increase.

My G has 4K miles on it and i've got the creaky center console (aluminum against plastic) and now some additional creaking noise behind me (sounds like the headliner next to rear door?)

For first several hundred miles everything was tight and noise free...not anymore.

Not sure there's much you can really do about it

My car didn't have any rattling noise for the first 5+ months or so. Then there came some squeaky/rattling sound from the rear passenger door on the driver side. Took it in during my June oil change and they lubricated the hinges and probaby did something else and fixed it. Today, I heard some "new and developed" squeaky/rattling noise coming from the rear passenger door on the passenger side this time. If it continues, I'll just remind them in my next oil change to have it fix.

As far as the center console noise (thank god I don't have that). However, the last time I took out a loaner car, the car only had 3,000+ miles but the center console were squeaky like crazy.

I have a "creaking" sound at the console, when I lean on it, it's around the rear section with the armrest, doesn't creak if I'm not leaning on it, that is the first item on my list, no rattle at the shifter.

No, I haven't taken mine in for it yet, only had my car three weeks now. But, I did have a rattle in my console on my '04 and they fixed that one.

This might be of interest, but I'm not sure if you have the
exact symptoms (but close to it). There's a recent TSB on
a noise from the rear doors. Check it out at http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ownership/Bulletins/Infiniti/2005/ITB05-034.htm.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes. I agree with NorCalifG35...I had one creak early on, now at about 7K miles, I seem to be getting a couple more.

Wow...another new service bulletin. Hmm...very interesting and it might be my car's sympton. So far it hasn't gotten bad to the point and I'll monitor that but it might well be this bulletin. I guess if that's the case, time to bring it in and beat up another loaner afterward.

By the way, thanks for the heads up.

Welcome to the G35 world. Creeks and Squeaks all over. I have the same issue. I have two different squeaks, one coming from the B Pillars and once coming from the front doors. Sounds just as the TSB states but they are the front, I wonder if it is the same fix? Sound is there with the window up but once you put it down, sound is gone. Hmmm...

Got it fixed

I had my car for 3 weeks and i noticed creaks from the center armrest by the gear shift. I took in to the dealer, he had my car over the weekend and fixed the problem. He said that there were some loose latches under the gear shifter and had to fix it. Whatever he had to do... It worked, absolutely no noises from the armrest anymore.

Although my 2nd complain still has no proper fix. The rear-view mirror shakes / vibrates crazily when i am going at 50-70mph on freeways. I complained about it, they replaced the rearview mirror, still not much of a difference. Although it is slightly better, not a big improvement.

I have a Honda CR-V and the rear-view mirror is solid as a rock. I don't get it, Infiniti can't design a simple rear-view mirror?.. I believe they had this issue with 03 and 04 versions. I had hoped they would fix this in the 05 but no luck.

g35dreamcar...did you get this rattle fixed at Infiniti of Lisle? I'm glad to hear they were successful in fixing this rattle. Have they fixed any other rattles for you? I'm particularly interested about the A/C vent - door area rattle. It's starting to drive me crazy!

Creaky Window

Thanks Lelg35 for posting the TSB. I had been noticing a creaky sound from my rear driver's side window for the past couple weeks. My 05 has 3300 miles on it. Had it in for the first oil change this week and brought the TSB along. Told the Service Advisor that I am a total web geek and the I found out on this forum about my problem. He was not offended. Totally cool. The part itself was on back order. I must not be the only one experiencing this. Anyway, parts are on their way. Hopefully the creak will be silenced.

Thanks again!!

I got my car back from the creaky rear door TSB today. It's fixed (at least during my 10 min drive home). As for the console noise...

G35dreamer, when do you get the console noise? I get it when I brake the car. The guy said there's nothing between the shifter and the cup holder and said you'll get some noise...it's a car. Anyway, it was kinda lame but they didn't fix it for me. Since there wasn't any TSB on it I wasn't going to start arguing over it. That only bothers me a little because it doesn't happen all the time whereas that rear door creaky noise was driving me nuts but I believe it's all good now.
