Hmmm, not the glass. Stop following so close to trucks and cars. I have had a few rocks slam my windshield and its held up just fine.

I also had one go. On my last car, I replaced 5!!! windshields in 4 years. It's not the glass and on the last car, I can honestly say I was too close only once in the five incidents. It's just the amount of crap on the roads and the volume of vehicles as well. A good glass shop should be able to replace it as good as new.

If I didn't know you were in AZ I'd swear you were in Corpus. F'ing roads are so $hitty here the new cars on the lot come with their windshields pre-cracked...

I went through two in 3 weeks. Neither time I was following too close. The first broke from debris off of a truck that was going the opposite direction.

I've had $hit smash into my windshield at 0500 in the morning when I'm on the way to work and there isn't another car IN THE SAME FREAKING ZIP CODE..

I pull over and look to see if people are throwing $hit out of airplanes at me..

It's not the glass dude. I've owned 2 G's and never have had a problem with the windshield.

With the first one, a rock came flying from the rear of an SUV on the highway and it chipped it but no crack at all.

Maybe it's just luck.

Yes, that's it. I was following too close on a rush-hour traffic on a highway during a Sunday rush....well of course I was following too close, its the Sunday post-church-shopping-time-in-Phoenix rush hours we get on the freeway. Sorry, I'm just bent out of shape. I effin hate this city for the rocks we have everywhere. Time to move somewhere where dirt doesn't make up the greater majority of both the landscape and air combination.

actually...it can be the glass....not him following too close...

it seems that the windshield on my bmw 330ci is pitting less so than that of the G35.....but then again the G35 has less highway miles on it...so we will see in the long run...i have had several of my friends crack the windshield of their G35 on the highway...so go figure....

You know... I've noticed that on a previous car. On my Maxima, the windshield would get pinged by a rock and almost immediately turn into a small crack. I was constantly getting it repaired. Thought I just had the worst luck (never had trouble on my car before the Max), then finally the windshield needed to be replaced. After the replacement, I never noticed anything more than a pit.

Of course, this is purely anecdotal, and not based on anything I've researched whatsoever, but it made me wonder if some glass comes off the line more susceptible to cracking. If it is true, I doubt it's Nissan and just luck of the draw on the glass you get. I mean, we can't all get a nice piece of glass. ducks
