More rattles, specifically mirror; and yes, I've searched
Before anybody tells me to do a search, I have.
My 05 is experiencing a few rattles ( surprise! ). The major rattle that's bothering me is coming from the rear-view mirror. At first, it sounded like it was coming from the upper-right area of the dash. When my wife was in the passenger seat, she said it sounded like it was coming from the upper-left driver's side of the dash. Then we figured it came rear-view mirror.
I have seen the TSB regarding the mirror mount and the windshield. This is not it. The mirror itself is encased in a plastic harness, along the bottom of said harness are the buttons for the homelink and the autodimmer. That is where the rattle is coming from. It's not a situation where the actual mirror is "floating" inside of the harness to cause the rattle. I just think that the harness itself is not very tight. If I press on the top and bottom, with a single hand, at the same time, it stops temporarily. Also, if I press any off the buttom buttons it stops temporarily.
So, has anyone else had this? Can anyone provide suggestions on tightening this harness? I really don't want to take it to the local dealer's service department. Nothing but attitude over at that place.

In addition to the mirror rattle, I was occasionally experiencing what I can only describe as a "noise" coming from an area between the front two seats. And when I say occasionally, I mean like 3 times in nearly two months. It wasn't a rattle. It wasn't even a squeak. It literally sounded like mouse chatter. The last time it happened, I realized what it was: it was the lid for the center console(remember, the center console is different between the 6MT and 5AT). All I had to do to stop it was to raise the lid and close it again. I surmised that this particular noise was being caused by the magnets rubbing together due to excessive vibrations over the road surface.
Another noise that pops up every now and again seems to eminate from the driver's door, somewhere just below the window. It's not a music/bass/road surface issue. It's just a squeak that comes and goes. If I push laterally with my left arm against the door, it stops. Fortunately, I haven't experienced this since the first two weeks. It just went away. Then again, it may have just been covered up by the incessant mirror rattle.
And the last noise that I've noticed seems to come from the upper driver's side seat belt mount. Like some of the other noises, it's happened just a handful of times. All I've had to do so far is re-pivot the mount on its axis. Fortunately that's been easy to fix so far.

On the mirror noise, you might want to try sticking a small piece of dynamat or dynamat-like material on the back of the mirror. It may well dampen the vibrations of the mirror assembly enough to avoid any potential noise and you'll never be able to see it unless you're looking for it - especially if you use material with a dark or similar color.
DUDE I have the same problem, I usually give it a little squeeze when its cold, (the mirror i mean) but yea definitely annoying

My sedan has the exact same noise in the rearview mirror. Only seems to happen once it gets warmed up inside. Drives me crazy. It sounds like a fly dying in my rearview mirror whenever I change lanes on the freeway. It took the dealership months to actually confirm it (I mentioned it each time I went in for scheduled maintenance). Just had the oil changed two days ago and they confirmed the noise. They are ordering the new mirror and should be in in a few days.
Pleasanton Infiniti (Calif.) has an amazing service Dept. in my opinon. Mike Troche, the service manager knows his stuff, Especiallly when it comes to the pain in the *** rattles. He's fixed everyone on my '04 sedan. He told me that when he was trying to find a nasty 'buzzing" in the rear parcel shelf of my car he damn near got sick trying to find it while the service guy drove the car around. They get my vote.
