How much over invoice a good deal on an 05 x
It seems like $400-500 is the average but it may depend where you are buying from. In my hometown (Houston), all dealers are offering 2 years "free" service. However, it's not really free because you have to pay for it. Dealers don't like to call it a cost but if you press them on it, they do admit it is. I bought my G last week and paid $1k over after the $1k rebate. With that "free" service and tint that was already on the vehicle, you could say only $500 of that went straight to the dealer's pocket.

I got mine in June for $200 - $250 below invoice.
Where are you located? I can hook you up with a good dealer if you are looking to purchase in Chicago suburbs.

05 g35x purchased in March. premium pkg and trunk mat/full size spare. Just a hare over $500 below invoice. Certain numbers may have changed since then.
invoice
minus dealer holdback
minus customer rebates
minus dealer incentives
plus 1 to 1.5% profit
plus destination
plus tax, title, license
Figure out this figure for your configuration and then fax the offer to all the local/regional dealers SALES MANAGERS. One is likely to call you and say "done deal". Purchased last 5 cars this way without even visiting the showroom. Unless you have some dirt on somebody or have Jedi mind powers it is the best deal you can get and you don't have to sit in a showroom and let some idiot sales guy wear you down.

How much over?
I just replaced my G35 2003.5 sedan with a new 2005 sedan both sport models. The first one I paid MSRP, the last one I got for $1200 below MSRP. That was just my experience though, it could vary in your area. The employee discounts from the big 3 hurt the import market more than they will admit.
