Brake wear poll!

Dealer or independent shop? Used factor or aftermarket pads/rotors? etc., etc.
At 23k miles I removed the MM pads and stock rotors (all are in excellent condition and for sale if anyone's interested). I'm now running the RacingBrake Big Brake Kit. IMO, this BBK is an awesome upgrade especially when you factor in the cost.
Warranty covered front pads and new rotors @17k. I took it in because while washing the brake dust off, I noticed the front rotors concaved. No noise or reduction in braking. Incidentally the replacement pads dust badly.
Today I went to my Infiniti dealers to have the 26,250 miles services. The guy told me that I need to replace the front pads and rotors because they are at the minimum thickness....he told me it costs $580. And I didn't do it right away because the money scared me....Is there any cheaper way to have them replaced? Any aftermarket choice? Have you guys done the same thing and how much did it cost you? My car is a 2003 G35 sedan 5AT with 25500 miles on it.
21,700 miles, I am an aggressive driver and am usually braking hard. These pads will probably last me till 25-30K. My previous car, an Altima, I got 29,000 hard miles out of them while everyone was replacing them somewhat early. I think a manual transmission plays part in better brake wear. I am not big on downshifting, if I do downshift, its a rev match.
39K miles on 2003 6MT Coupe with OEM Brembos
No brake work of any kind to-date. Dealership checked and said pads and rotors were fine at last service (~36K). Expect to make 45-50K before replacement.
My wife had a 2003 5AT Coupe with about 20K miles on it when we sold it. The standard (non-Brembo) brakes squealed a little after only ~5K miles, and it continued until we sold it (not for that reason though). The dealership said the squealing was very common on the standard brakes, and they said we had plenty of wear left on the pads when we traded it in. Then again, she downshifted in manumatic mode a lot, which may have saved her pads some...

On my '04, at 15k, my fronts were down to just under 3mm, so they were replaced, and it's not my driving, I have always gotten a minimum of 40 out of front brakes on every disc brake vehicle I have owned. BTW, glad I got the '05, no black wheels even after two weeks!
I don't understand how most of you guys go thru them so quickly! I have an '04 5AT sedan with 35,800 miles on it...still have the original pads & rotors on all 4. I was in for warranty work & tried to get all my brakes replaced before I hit 36K, due to the letter than Infiniti issued re: premature brake wear, but they told me I have 4-5 mm left on the front and 6 mm left on the rears!...needless to say, no free brakes for Jim
. I drive 45 minutes each way to work...10-15 minutes of this is local roads...the last 1/2 hour is highway. Just got the Hawk HPS pads to get rid of my brake dust issues for good!
Anyone want my used pads?
I'd like to hear from those with an 05 since they haven't yet extended the warranty to 36K
2005 G35x
Front rotors resurfaced at 6,000 miles
Front pads and rotors replaced at 7,500 miles
Front and rear pads and rotors replaced at 10,000 miles (should have been done sooner but infiniti consumer affairs jerked me around for a while)
