How does stock "Sport Suspension" rate?

How does the Sport Suspension option on a G35 Sedan compare to the aftermarket options you guys are using? I'm about to buy a new 05 Sedan and am trying to decide whether to get this option or not. I'm no hot rodder but have always liked the tighter handling of previous Beemers I've owned.

Any comments about how it performs would be welcome. Thanks!

Depending what BMW your use too, the G35 pretty much out handles all the older BMW's except the M series. The Sport package is great, my 05 got a serious test at the autox today with it!

The sport package definitely out-handles non-sport, but there are better aftermarket out there. If you plan to upgrade don’t bother with sport suspension... If you plan to keep the factory suspension, definitely go with he sport version - I wish I had... didn’t realize what I didn’t have till I drove DaveO's... now I'm looking into changing some things for better cornering.

I don't think I would want anything stiffer than the stock sport suspension. With all the construction in my area, the roads can get pretty rough. I don't have a lot of experience with modern sports cars so I don't have much to compare it to.

I have the stock sport suspension and I recommend you go with it since you seem to be in the same boat as me with the construction and roads. Nothing better than cornering a turn at 65+ mph

What's a "limited slip differential" and what's the benefit?

In most cars, only one wheel delivers the power. A limited slip will engage the other wheel when the main wheel slips. This is good for maximum grip but bad in that the rear end can whip around really fast. In a fwd car, a limited slip can make you lose all steering when both wheels loose grip. The G35 comes with a stability system that prevents the rearend from loosing control.

Nope - my 5AT coupe (2004.5) came with the LSD - was part of the tire and perf pkg.
