What would you buy?

I know this is off subject but I want to buy a second car and am trying to keep it in a budget and I came up with two choices, both cars are 1997 a porsche boxter or corvette? Which one do you guys think is better? My spending range is around $15K

you can find a used Twin Turbo Supra for $15K too...

I just sold my 65 Vette, sold it and made $6000.. I have some play money too but I want a car that goes up in value instead of down, that is why I like 60's musle cars.. But you already have a sports sedan, why not something different like a Jeep Wrangler??? great for the snow in the winter, top down fun in the summer, and a blast to drive... I bought my 97 Wranger with A/C for $5000

I would think a $15k Porsche would need expensive maintenance but the Vette wouldn't be too cheap either. If it was me, I would get a muscle car. They are much fairly cheap and easy to maintain, sound awesome, and are real headturners. Plus, as dugg35 said, the market for these old cars just keep going up and up as they become more and more rare. If you do this, just make sure and find one mostly original or something restored. Project cars are a nightmare.

I always wanted a 94/95 Twin Turbo RX7...but I've heard they can be unreliable.

The Corvette says about you, "I value performance above everything, I can live with the slightly down-market appeal."

The Boxster says, "I like the refined good looks of my Boxster. I don't care if I could have had a Corvette."

So, which guy are you?

So you've got a completely dialed in G35, but want to spend $15K on some sort of high mileage 7-10 year maintenance nightmare? Are you looking for a beater, a commuter, or some sort of weekend convertible? My advice is to get a motorcycle ... all the open air fun and triple the performance for half the price of any used car

'00 S2000 or '02 WRX ... mod it when time and $ allow. Yes, the acquisition cost is higher. The Boxster might be reliable, but their shop costs are anything but cheap. If your definition of performance is an American V8, you already know what to buy.

What about an E36 M3?

Faster than a Boxter, handles better than the Corvette-

With regard to Corvettes, the Z06 is a champion, period.
However, some of the earlier c5s are a bit iffy. Still can find a nice car.
Boxters, just a bit scary to me, not all that quick. Can find a nice car.

I also like the S2000 suggestion as well-Would need to be well cared for.

I'd rather have a mint 85 Carrera than a 97 Boxter.

Also check out 944 Turbos-Pretty fun and can be made to looks pretty sweet. Sure it's a bit older, but still really fun to drive. Can be pretty damn quick.

I'm in the same boat, take your time drive some cars, find the right one for you.
I'd say be willing to spend a bit less or a bit more if you find your car.
Find the right car.

I'm gonna have to disagree with that ... At least in my area, that's the image that the Boxster gets. It always the guys having their mid-life crisis that have too much money that buy the Boxster and they have really lost their appeal.

I'd go with the Corvette, if I were picking between the 2. Just my honest opinion.

Its all about the memorys man! Cruising the streets in my drop vette in the summer of 89' those were the good old days! J/K I am only 28yrs old. I want a two seater coupe preferably so I can use it for commute and for sport. I know our G's are not no Ferrari's but it is my trophy and I worked hard for it brand new and I want to preserve it much as I can.

supra TT hold the value most for import. with a few mods you can whale on and american or europeaen car, easily kill lambos and vipers.and the resale for a supra is unbelievable because of their reliabilty.sexy and fast as hell.
