I have 5,000+ miles on my 05 g35x and I don't have the notchy feel (touch wood). I also switch back and forth while I am driving but by no means is it close to a true manual. Although most of the time I know what gear I am on but my brain keeps telling me to look at the gear number, especially I drive with the hand on top of steering wheel and it blocks my vision to the gear number.

I wonder in a true clutchless manual does it downshift for you. I would think not right? Otherwise it's not a true manual. Let's say you are driving a SMG bmw and you are on 6th gear exiting the highway then you slow down to 15 mph for a sharp sharp turn. Does that mean you down or up tap it 6-5-4-3-2 and then turn? That would be insane. With a true manual it's 6 to 2, one shift.
