What was Infiniti thinking when they placed the battery next to the firewall right in front of the cabin air intake.

Better weight distribution. Plus it's in it's own compartment.

Quote: and what miss from my previous cars is: the non-rain sensing wipers, sportier seat option, on board computer (std)
This is definetly something I would not want. My friends Lexus GX470 has them. we were riding along through an incredibly bug infested area. a bug hit the windshield in just the right spot to activate the wipers which then smeared all the other bug guts over the windsheild. It's okay I can turn my own wipers on.

Quote: It's not just that....
They get hidden by clothing, jackets etc.

Summer's not bad, but fall & winter is a PITA
You should move South. I never have to wear a jacket!

Quote: i dont know what ta f#ck ur problem with bose stereo is, sit in a new TL or a new Maxima or Altima or any car under $40k i think the G has the best sound system.
Well, you think wrong. The Bose unit in my old Altima 3.5 was heads and shoulders better than the tinny little thing in my G35. I'm not an audiophile so I can't explain why. All I know is that the Altima had a richer, fuller sound that was much crisper.

And neither the G35 nor the Altima is in the same class as the TL audio-wise. The 6MT '05 TL I test-drove had an absolutely brilliant sound system. Made both Nissan products sound like they were mono systems ten feet underwater.

All that being said, I didn't buy the G35 to listen to the stereo. I bought it so I could drive a relatively quick, good-handling four-door sedan that had the power going to the right end. Other than the upgraded interior for '05, no other characteristcs were much of a factor.

Check again and you will see the intake plenum in the same compartment as the battery. Look towards the firewall.

Not sure what G35 you have but my battery as well as everyone elses battery I have seen is in it's own compartment, sealed off with a battery cover. the intake plenum is a good 3-4 inches away. See for yourself

Yes, like 99% of the cars on the market! I think the way the G has the battery enclosed is good.

Damn, is it the same on the M Colin? I think that was made that way to keep us "in touch" with our cars, LOL!

You have to take off the whole battery cover and look toward the firewall. Please refer to a post by DaveO :https://g35driver.com/forums/showpos...6&postcount=25

The entire thread is: https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...t=Hot+air+cool

The 1st link will give you a larger view.

Do you now see the intake plenum behind the battery? If you dont believe me check your own car.

....when they installed a step-on parking brake in a sports sedan??? One would think economies of scale would dictate the same setup for AT and MT cars....

Intake plenum is a the wrong choice of words for the what is the HVAC inlet port. The intake plenum is the big silver piece of aluminum that is bolted on top of your motor that is covered by the plastic trim piece.

My original post was: https://g35driver.com/forums/showpos...0&postcount=46. I said nothing about intake plenum in the original post but your response knocked down my post right away. Let me rephrase - "What was Infiniti thinking when they placed the battery next to the firewall right in front of the cabin air intake duct".

it's also ok if you turn your rain sensing wipers off. they don't stay on all the time if you don't want them to. the great thing about them is the fact that you never scrape your wipers on a dry windshield.
