Just wondering what you guys do to help preserve it. I know a clear bra is recomended, but what else as far as the rest of it. Get leather protector? wax? how soon should i apply it. I'm basically looking for the ABC's what to do with a new car.
Thanks for the advice.

The owners manual should cover that...

Cmon guys.. You could at least welcome him to the forums...

xltros... Welcome to the forums. Good to have you hear and congrats on the new ride.

Here's a quick summary of my detailing recommendations:

ClearBra: Must have investment (use Llumar, if possible)
Wax/Sealant: Zaino or Klasse
Leather: Lexol Cleaner and Conditioner
Vinyl/Dash: Vinylex
Wheels: Wheel Wax
Rubber: Meguiars High Performance Gloss

Summary of Maintenance recommendations:

Maintenance Intervals: Follow premium maintenance as outlined in your manual. I do this maintenance myself and save a ton of money.
Oil: Mobil One Synthetic (I use 5w30)
Oil Filter: Mobil One
Air Filter: K&N Drop In
Fuel: Premium

That's about all the I've done with only 6k on my 05.

Congrats on your G35. You are asking a lot of questions at once. I suggest searching the detailing thread or somewhere like meguiars.com. The big question is how serious are you about detailing and maintenance. Personally, I can't and don't want to spend an entire weekend cleaning my car, trying to make it look perfect. Some people do.

Thanks for the welcome! As far as maintanence, I want my black on black G to look good, but I also don't want to spend all weekend working on it. I know this is hard having a black car but what are alternatives to spending so much time to keep it looking good, any?
Do i need to get it waxed soon? and how soon should i apply the leather.tire care. Thanks again!

I waxed mine 3x in the first 3 weeks, but I love doing so. Your in for trouble if you dont like spending time to keep it clean. Black is difficult. I once owned a black F150 and I had to wash it EVERY time I cleaned it because if I didnt, it just didnt feel clean to me.

Here is what I did.

Wash the car with dish washing detergent
Zaino clay bar the exterior
Zaino Fusion any scratches or water marks
Wash the car with car wash
Wax with Zaino Z-2 Pro (2-3 coats min)
Finish with Zaino Z-8 Grande finale spray

Also wax clean rims with Z-2 Pro and use Zaino's Z-16 Tire Gloss. For the interior, I use (you guessed it) Zaino Z-9 cleaner and Z-10 conditioner.

There are many debats about different products to use, but once I saw a demo using Zaino product I was sold. I have been very happy with the results!!!

So the myth of waiting 2 months to wax your new car is truly a myth, right?

I have the black on black. And yes, you do see the dirt, dust, etc. quickly. Here is what I have done. Wash usually once a week. Applied Klasse all-in-one and high gloss sealant glaze after about 2 months of having the car. After the once a week wash I quickly of over the car with a microfiber cloth and Sonus detailing spray. The Sonus seems to get rid of the water marks and leave a wet look, and also helps the dust not stick so much. On the Sonus bottle it says that you can use this between washes to dust your car, I have not tired this yet as this stuff is a bit expensive for this, so I use a OXO Good Grips Car Duster and lightly go over the car, this works great IMHO. I get all my exterior stuff from autopia, or Ace depending on what I need. As for maintenance, I follow the regular schedule, oil change at 3750 or so, I like to do this myself, but living in the Chicago area, it gets mighty cold and wet to be crawling around on the garage floor, so I will most likely take it to the dealer. Same goes for the winter wash, hopefully a good wax before snow, then touch free washes throughout the winter will not screw up the finish to much...Winter SUCKS!!!
