Thats why you put proximity sensors on and face a wall, that way, someone walks by, it goes off...

That's why you get an alarm with a backup battery thats seperate from the main one.

by the time the satilit company call u, the thieves be home with ur HID already.. they could take ur HID with u at the window looking and by the time u get to ur door, they would be gone with ur HID,, i can pop ur hood with out setting off alarm, lo jack is a joke, if they ****** ur car they would rip ur system out with in minutes of taking ur ride, the rims be off quick too, by the time u file police report and contact lojack ur shet will be in a under ground garage where lojack dont work. best bet dont but anything in ur car that u dont want stolen.

Exclamation Some Newark Information

Sorry to hear about the possible theft man. I have been going to school at Rutgers in Newark for 4 years now and I have seen some pretty crazy sh*t. I saw two guys pull up next to an Audi A4 in a similar Audi A4, calmly pull out a small drill, drill the lock out, get in and start the car in less than 45 seconds. I saw an RX-7 on central ave. (by MLK blvd.) in front of the flower distributor (pretty busy area) get put up on blocks one day, windows out and interrior probably stripped the next day, then the last time I drove by the front fenders and lights were gone. If you walk down University Ave. by the hospital, all you see is broken window glass in the gutter of the street. Recently, someone's head ended up under a car on one side of Nesbitt st. and their body under a car on the other side.

I just got a black on black 6MT sedan (and before that a Lexus GS300) and what I am worried about is getting carjacked. To prevent someone tap'n on my window with a gun I always keep my car rolling and I always leave room to escape. When I can't - I get nervous...Newark is wild.

I think that it is funny that a lot of people on the board are telling you to go to their house with a gun. I'm sure that you know that you DO NOT want to be knocking on people's doors in Newark looking for a fight.

All that aside, I have never had a problem in Newark and I have been pretty bold. I always go to Orange Fried Chicken for a Gyro at 2AM or getting gas at one of the beautiful "don't pay attendent because he will get macked up" pay-at-bullet-proof-booth gas stations because premium is $2.39. The bottom line, the way I look at it is: no one is looking to rob me in particular, just don't give anyone a hard time or a reason (be flashy or try to look real tough) and I won't have a problem.

Let me sum up the Newark I know for everyone that doesn't. This is the city where they literally invented shooting people in the spine because it is more shameful to be in the hood in a wheelchair and if you get pinched you only get attempted murder instead of 25-life. Warning: Newark has *real* gangstas that *actually* hustle for a living.

This is what happened to my old car here in NJ. It got so bad that cops were driving around mall parking lots and putting notes on cars with HIDs telling them to park with front facing the outside so if people are trying to steal the HIDs, others would see. The body shop I went to told me they were fixing about 10+ per month.

NJ is one of the worst in the country. If you choose to live there, you are taking that risk.

I won't pay for an aftermarket alarm, because I know for a fact that a professional will get what they want, regardless. That's why I have insurance.

While I would never disagree that Newark is a $hithole, it isn't representative of all of NJ, not by a long shot. There are extremely beautiful areas of the state. There's good reason that some of the country's most expensive housing is in NJ, basically because of working proximity to NYC (or Philly at the bottom) where you can get a full house in a safe neighborhood with good schools for the kiddies. Newark isn't one of those places. But assuming all of NJ is like Newark is akin to assuming that your entire body smells exactly like your a$$hole.
