Does anyone know if the 05' pad change to extend the life of the brakes, hurt or helped the already great braking performance? My gut feeling is pad material that extends pad life will hurt performance.

Just how major is major? What do they look like after driving in the rain?

The '05 brakes, are different, stop more smoothly, take a bit more pedal pressure than the '03-'04, which is just fine, it wasn't JUST a pad change, the rotors are larger, calipers are larger, better brakes!

All true except for the 05 X. The brakes are the same as the 03/04 except for a pad change. Someone posted here that the 06 X now has the larger brakes added.

I rotated my tires yesterday and looked at my front brakes. After 1 autox, and 6500 miles, my front pads still have a ton of life left. The 04 G35 didn't at this point with the same miles.

The people with the 05' brake dust problem are the people with X's only. You guys with the regular 05's have the bigger brakes and seem to not have the dust problem.
It is possible that they did not change the X's brakes for the 05 model and thus the dust problem still exists

I posted that, if you check the specs on the '06 G35 at Infiniti.com, it shows the larger brakes for both the Sedan and the X. They must have changed the pads, otherwise I'd think they would still have the wear warranty, I found it odd they didn't change to the new brakes on all models in '05.
