Mobil1 5W-30. This is the syn oil my dealership uses for their synthetic oil changes (about $80). I bring my own $20 (or so), 5 quart jug and just pay labor.

Heck, it varies from service to service. I go to the same dealer every time, and they've used 4 different brands for 5 changes. Mobil, Pennziol, Castrol, and Havoline if I remember right.

I use Castrol Syn, and have for years. I love it.
I have used 5W30 and 5W50 depending on availability, but have avoided the '50' in the winter months.
I stick with the OEM filter.

I don't want be a thread hijacker (I'll post another thread if wanted), but I have question for those of you who do you own oil changes, where do you get the drain plug washer and how often do you change it.

Is 5W-30 recommended?

Also, where do you get Amsoil in the northeast (Philadelphia area?) Any major stores carry it?

I use AMSOIL 5W30. I will recommend anyone to NOT go over 5k of miles with Mobil 1 because tests have shown on this engine it basically falls apart after 5k. Amsoil you are safe for more than 5k.

Some will give them to you for free. Nissan dealers have them also. I just use a Fumoto valve, that solves the washer problem.

That hasn't been my experience Russ. I'm running 6-7k mile intervals on Mobil 1 5W-30 and my blackstone reports are very good. Here is the proof, my reports are under "admin":

Agreed! I change mine every 3K. My drive to work is only 2 miles and I do a lot of short drives in and around town. Changed to Amsoil after 3K on car. Little more expensive, but I believe worth the price.
