Amsoil synthetic 10-30w for me. I have about 4k on it since I changed my oil. I checked it this weekend and it looks the same as the day I put it in the engine. Oil level is good as well.

Mobil 1 5W30, using a Purolator PureOne long filter, every 7500 miles, since the odometer hit 7500 to begin with. The dealership gave me one free oil change, so it was Pennzoil regular oil from 3750-7500.
However, if anyone is interested in saving money, I'd recommend regular oil and an Infiniti filter at the 3750 intervals. I put Castrol GTX 5W30 in the Expedition.

I have been "advised" by Infiniti service not to switch to Synthetic until after 7500-10000 miles because seals are still seating.
Is there merit to this statement?

I could probaby call the dealership and find this out but decided to ask here..
If you bring in your own oil to the dealership will they charge you less and use what you bring?
Sorry for the newbie type question

Yes, they should just charge you for labor and the oil filter. I bring in my own syn oil. I just had mine changed yesterday. Out the door for $21.92 including tax. I think the regular oil change with their mineral oil is about $30.00. They quoted me $80 for a synthetic oil change. Check Wal-Mart...they sell 5 quart jugs of syn oil for about $20-$25 depending on brand.Originally Posted by KayGee56

Edit: I bring Mobil1 5w-30 (Wal-mart 5 quart jug) and let them install the OEM filter.

I ran Amsoil 5W-30 on my 03 AT for about 45k miles, changes about every 5k miles... that engine was strong as hell .... When I hit 4000 or so on my MT i will start to use Amsoil 5W-30 again.

I'm a proud user of Havoline and Chevron motor oils. Runs great. I don't plan on switching to synthetic. One main reason is I've got about 100 quarts in our garage

I think it was $30 or $30-something...sorry, never had a regular oil change but it surely wasn't more than $40 when I asked about it. Hell! For $47, you might as well buy your own syn oil and have them change it for you. It comes out to about the same cost for me ($22 for labor, $25 for syn oil). Well, that's $22 for labor at my dealer...you may want to check what yours charges.Originally Posted by KayGee56

Edit: I wonder if they're charging you for the "inspections" listed in the manual. When I make my appointment, I don't tell them what mileage of service I need...I just tell them, "give me an oil change". My dealer is nice enough to check the fluids, etc anyway at no extra cost.

I've been using Mobil 1 5w-30 full synthetic since the engine hit 7k miles. Change every 4-5k miles with Napa Gold oil filter.

I'm sure these oils are okay as long as you change it frequently. Don't quote me on this but I believe these two oils tested out to be marginal at best.
