wait till the guy tries to sell the GTO and he will be surprised that it will be worthless. no resale value what so ever on american cars. thats why so much discount on them.
The GTO is fast, but damm, it looks like a GrandAm. And from what I read it handles and shifts (6MT) like one to. It's great if all you want to do is impress your friends with your 1/4 mile times, but try taking it around a corner at speed.

I guess this is true about taking it around a corner at speed, because this is where I was able to catch up really quick to the GTO.

04 Mustangs were slower ... 05s are no joke. Neither is the GTO, that thing is a monster that would be the bargain of the century if they could get it to look right. I mean, it really is a corvette engine stuffed into a chevy cavalier, isn't it?

The problem with online forums it often a lack of intonation. By that, I hope you're kidding.

I'm not a big fan of GM products, particularly the GTO. But I respect it. It's a mean car. However, the GTO is not a cav, it's actually a Holden: http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/...?modelid=12001

I think typically that is true. There are of course exceptions. I'd like to get my hands on a 03 Cobra. Whew!

I meant that the G was faster than maybe only 60% of all the different models of vehicles made....not the total number of all the cars ever made of each one.

Sorry about my first statement about the G getting rocked by the stang, I thought you were talking about the new 05 mustang, in which case any stock G would get smoked by a new 05 GT model. Since it was the 04, then yeah an auto 04 GT is not that fast at all and the G would hang with it.

I'd venture to say the G35 is faster and quicker than 95% of the cars on the road today. Any car that runs mid 14s or less is still pretty rare. Open up and mag database and you'll see that. Mid 15s to mid 16s are the norm for most cars, even 05/06s.

I ran 13.89 stock and stock dyno numbers were 229/269 SAE corrected. The difference is in the 60' time. The Mustang will have the lower 60' due to it's torque advantage. The lower the 60' time, the lower the 1/4 mile time.

1999 - 2004 Mustang GT is the same car.
