z-tube goes quiet in cool weather?

Anyone else notice the ztube loses it's growl in cool weather? It sounded great all summer here in Dallas, but my ztube almost sounds stock when the temp gets below 60 degrees. I was driving around in 45 degree weather the other morning and the growl was all but gone...sounded stock....any ideas? I've got an '05 5at w/ K&N drop in.

Nope, yesterday was warm again and the moan/growl was back. So i know it's not a "got used to the sound" issue. I'm particular about sound and fanatically track down squeaks and rattles so i can better hear the motor without distraction. I also upgraded the tweeters to MB Quarts - and they sound great - but I still usually turn the radio off when i'm alone in the car just to hear the motor at diff rpm's / diff loads, etc.

I also notice more of the high rpm buzz in cooler weather, maybe because i'm not enjoying the growl...i was hoping someone else would back me up on this. It'll make me nervous if i'm the only one.

Cold air is more dense, but it shouldn't have an audible effect. Mine doesn't/hasn't since ever. UBCool, jbx

My car actually sounds louder in the cold, I have an AEM intake, which is metallic (in case it makes a difference)

Also in (around) Dallas.

...Maybe you're not putting down the smack as much when it's colder, or aren't opening the windows as much?

Well... Logic would suggest that in cooler air the airbox would have to work as hard to get its job done...

maybe because you have your window up while its cold...

How does that intake setup work on your 05 AT?

any gains? Dynos? track times?

Well seeing as how my windows are up when it's hot and up when it's cold, I doubt that's it. The only variable is the temp outside and my running the A/C. I guess I could try running with A/C off and on - but I doubt that's it.

I have z-tube and magnaflow mid-pipe. Havnt noticed any change in sound when its gets cold. However i have grown used to the sound, its not as intense as when i first got it.

I have a pop charger with ztube and my car is extremly loud if i accelerate hard when the engine is cold but once it warms up seems to quiet down a bit. also i heard its not too good for the engine to punch it when the engine is cold.
