'06 pickup checklist advice, plz help

ok guys, i'm supposed to get my '06 sedan this week. i just cleared all the numbers this past weekend from frontier infiniti in santa clara, ca.

it's black on black with the premium pkg, sport, aero, nav.

this is the first brand new car i've purchased for myself at the dealer. i'm sure there's some sort of walkthrough process where they teach you how to use the different aspects of your car. given that i'm receiving the first '06 sedan this dealer has sold, i'm not convinced they'll know exactly what they're talking about for this particular model. i've been obsessively reading this site to get any '06 details i can find.

what should i be looking for? what should i be careful about? i'll be super **** about the paint condition, windows, interior, wheels, tires, etc. do people take the car out for a test drive before officially "receiving delivery" to verify there are no rattles, brakes are working ok, ride quality, etc? i'm supposed to have clear armour installed the following day (leaving the car at the dealer overnight) so i'm not sure i want to take it for a spin before getting that put on there.

any advice is welcome. thanks! i can't wait for it to get here.

You should definitely drive the car you're buying, don't just rely on driving their demo car. They'll probably recommend this to you as well.

I bought my 05 at Frontier also and the salesman didn't know much about the car. He said there is a Technical Rep or something that was going to come to my house and go over everything, but that was 2 months ago and I'm turning blue. If you don't want to read the manual when you get home I'd ask a lot of questions before you leave.

Make sure the sales guy puts the registration on the window. My guy was too dumb to even do that.

All in all, the car is pretty easy to figure out yourself.

thanks cavu. yeah i've been reading a copy of the owners manual online haha. same with a quick user's guide and the nav guide. i'll probably be reading it more as the day of arrival gets here.

how did you feel about frontier's customer service? do you take your car there for servicing? i feel like the level of service kind of sucks relative to the size of this purchase. my salesguy, rob, was awesome and attentive. after him tho it's been downhill since i negotiated a sweet deal (for me).

for example, when i enquired about where my car was, this guy replied "oh since it's the last day of the month it's not good to call sales managers with this type of question"... wtf??

06 changes are very minimal. That said, my dealer pointed out the basics but I had to research the manual to truly understand my car.

Work everything back through Rob. Ask him who you should deal with in customer service etc. Drive the car for a day before signing the paperwork. Good luck!

I haven't been in for service yet. I think they'll probably be ok, I just had a dufus for a sales guy.

foolish me, i fell for what i now understand to be spot delivery. the paperwork has been signed but is subject to getting torn up if i reject the car for any reason (if it's not specified as requested) according to the guy who i negotiated the deal with. i don't expect any problems though, i paid a little extra to have the car shipped as opposed to driven here from modesto.
