Heres the 06x brakes, sorry the picture's so crappy, it was very late, i just threw in the sat radio in the car. I took some pics of the calipers but they came out all blurry. I'll take some more during the day if anyone wants em.. but i guess this horse is pretty dead.

Out oif my 16K miles so far, I've taken a trip from NJ to Toronto and a trip from NJ to Montreal. Otherwise, my driving's split about 70% city (commute on back roads) and 30% highway. As I said, I'm pretty happy with the brakes so far. I haven't tried a car with the larger brakes yet so my bias may change when I do. Oh yeah, the comment about corporate BS is, of course, right on. I'm assuming Infiniti assumed that drivers of the X model would probably not be as agressive as rear wheel only drivers, so they used up the inventory of existing brakes on the 05 X's.

esfoad, I'm sure you've hit it right on the head. They had left over inventory and put it on the cars they deemed would be less likely to eat through brakes.

Yep, that's the "new" brakes, same as my '05 Sedan. What happened to your wheel?Originally Posted by kki000

I also think that some 2005 G35x models have different pads than others. My car puts out a tremendous amount of brake dust-Honestly, the brakes work fine, if a bit too grabby- They squeak a little (not a racing pad squeak, more of a 'please don't hurt me squeak')Originally Posted by esfoad
I don't understand why you're so bummed. The older brake system actually stops the car shorter than the revised brake system! However, the revised system gives a better feel. Not so grabby. Also, with the change of pad material in the 05 x's, the pad life has been increased. Mine has 16K miles on her and has only used 3mm of the 10mm that it starts out with.
Anybody with an X , do you have a lot of brake dust as well?

I agree, Don't be so bummed. I was able to up grade to X-drilled Stoptech front rotor made for 04 G35 on the 05 G35x. Can not do that for 06 G35x, No stoptech Rotor Upgrade for a while.

So you were able to put X drilled rotors on the front of the X? I have an 05 and I am looking for drilled rotors right now. I wasn't sure they would fit. If you don't mind, where did you get them?

Yea, I get some dust. Not crazy, but noticeable. Other than keeping your ride looking perfect, I wouldn't worry about it. Ever see the brake dust on a Mercedes? Unreal how black they get quick. But that does not make them bad. Same with BMW, at least on cars I've seen in the last couple of model years.Originally Posted by Lip

Yeah, I've had cars with crazy brake dust issues. No this one isn't the worst, close. Pad compound seems to be wearing quicker than expected.Originally Posted by DP03

These are direct replacment rotors & the same size.
I ordered them fron stoptech directly.
They will tell you they don't have rotors for g35x, so I just ordered
the 04 non bramboo front rotor for G35 sedan.
The front gap was drop 1" with coupe sport springs, my 05x came with huge 3" front fender gap, it's being bothering me for a while. I finally figured out how to make it even. Sorry for the dirty image.

Mine put out a lot of dust. I was told mine was an early 05. It also has a few creaks that drive me nuts.Originally Posted by Lip

My 05X also has brake dust but I keep up with it so it's not too bad. I'll change to ceramic pads nest. That should give me less dust. However, not for a while. 16K miles and only 30% wear on the original pads.

Esfoad, good to hear the pads are wearing well. I need to check to see where I'm at.
