G35 vs I35

Re: G35 vs I35
How much are I35 going for? When I went to the dealer they were first trying to sell us an I35 and Qx4 because they wanted to make room for the G35 and FX cars. Does the I35 come in stick? They say that Maxima and I35 are like the same car but I would have say something else because the Maxima just like the G35 are both 4 door sports cars as they say. The I35 is just a luxury car with some power. The Maxma can be a luxury car like the I35 if you get the SL package that is the 4spd auto one. I say if you want a I35 check out a Maxima that might suite you well.
BTW jw how old are that your friend think the I35 looks better.

Re: G35 vs I35
When I was shopping last year (May 2002), I test drove an I35, which the salesman was recommending. I actually was ready to buy one, but read that it was due for a redesign or would be dropped completely. So I decided to go back and test the G35, which put an instant smile on my face. (I got the sedan.)
Having said that, I agree that they're two different cars. The I35 is more luxurious, while the G35 is sportier. It depends what you're looking for. As far as exteriors are concerned, I prefer the looks of the G35 sedan, and the G35 coupe is even better-looking. IMO, there aren't many cars on the road that match it.

Re: G35 vs I35
Well Alderan I dont base my times from mags, I base it off of time slips and real world situations. Their are a few members in here that have both 02 Maximas(lighter version of I35) and G35's autos and the Maximas are putting down better times in some cases and have the timeslips to prove it. I have seen an 03 Max runa G35 at the track and the Max put down a 14.78 and the G Sedan a 14.83 close run but the Max edged it out but I am sure the G would have come back in a longer run. Check some of the older threads and dont go on Mag times because they can be innaccurate becasue times for the G. Sedan auto has been as high as 7.** as well in a test or 2 which we know is inaccurate.

Re: G35 vs I35
I have also seen Maximas do high 7 the times were estimates. I dont like the Max much because it not luxruy enough. I dont like the G35 a little to clunky for me. The I35 does not feel like a boat nor is the ride bad. I perfer its ride over the G and the car the I35 is more responsive. To me the I felt on par even maybe a little faster than the G and the I35 drove like a dream. I dont car if I does get redesinged because I have seen some of the pics of the concept and they were not nice but that was in 2002. I am not assuming they are going to drop the car. Oh BTW am 24 so the I35 seem youthful. I most likely am going to get the I35.

Re: G35 vs I35
We are talking about I35s here not Maxima... Are these Maxima (4spd) vs auto G35 (5spd)... not likely. Even if a Maxima current gen is as quick or quicker it's still has wrong wheel drive and handling and braking that don't match a G35.
Mag times are with professional drivers but if I see Motortrend put in a spec on the G35 and the I35 then I have a point of comparison. I can tell you for sure I have seen 0-60's on Probe GT's (owned one) of 7.3 and my G35 is much faster than that car. Who knows at a track maybe I could only get 8 out of the Probe and 7 in my G but it's a point of comparison. If the mag times are too low for the G then why should I also not assume that they are too low for every other car?

You are certainly mistaken, but buy all means purchase what suits you best. Sniff,sniff,sniff......... do I smell a troll?

Re: G35 vs I35
I35, a luxury car?? Maybe compared to Maxima only.
I have gone from a BMW to a G35 Coupe. I did consider the G35 Sedan before purchase; but an I35 would not have even been on my radar. To me I35 isn't a sports sedan or a luxury car. An upgraded re-badged Maxima yes; but that is what had been hindering Infiniti's image until the G's came out. Frankly for the small price difference between the G and the I, I don't understand why Infiniti makes both or why anyone would want the I?

Re: G35 vs I35
plain and simple. I35 is a prettier maxima, with a nicer interior. It shares nothing w/ the G35 because it is a different breed of automobile. I35 is not built for performance, or for style. if that car was anything special someone would have spoken of it highly, it has recieved no accliamation from anyone for anything because it is nothing special. Maxima that passes for luxury.

Re: G35 vs I35
besides the performance and drivability.
I have only seen mid-age guys and ladies driving I-35, not really many I35, most are old I30, but who can tell the differenece between these 2? I once surprised a guy who had his I35 in service at the same time I had my G35 in the dealer. He did not think G35 is the type of car I'd drive, because I'm at 40's. For a 20 some year-old, you definitely are better looking in G35 instead of I35.

Re: G35 vs I35
It depends on what you want.
I35: entry-level luxury sedan
G35: entry-level performance luxury sedan
It's more than just engine power. The I35 is your typical FWD family sedan type car with luxuries. The G35 is a RWD, near-50-50 weight balanced, sport-tuned performance sedan with luxuries. No, the G35 does not have that rear sunshade thing. The G35 is the better buy if you want the performance aspects. The I35 is the better buy if you want the luxury aspects.

Re: G35 vs I35
Good point. If I am not mistaken the G35 is replacing the I35 because I have seen nothing on the new 04 I35. I know hthe G35 feels faster than the 7secs that it was shown. In my informal test my G35 fully loaded sedan is doing about 6 and half seconds to 60. I am going to get a Gteck pro to make sure. From I hear for people I have talked to the I35 is doing 0-60 in 7.3 because of its weight and 4spd auto. I know that the new 04 Maxima with the 4spd auto is dong 0-60 in 6.7 because of the auto. The 5spd auto and 6spd manual Maxima is doing around what are cars doing auto from 6-6.5.

Re: G35 vs I35
Uh I think he said he got his car to about 6.7 in his test. I think you miss read it. I think he said the I35 got 7 to 60. For me it felt just a little faster than 7 like maybe 6.7 to 60 and the G35 felt like 7 when I flored it. Well I am going this week to see what deal I can get on an manual I35t with the sport in a nice hot blue. Sorry to be such a hard c*nt.
