Re: G35 vs I35

This board is almost funny - i went through it for laughs again. Few people in the world will ever argue that the G35 is Not better than the I35. If you can's appreciate the G then you should really get the I - you wont care about the handling or the power as if you had driven them and still had no preference then dont waste the add'l insurance money or gas money...you have little enthusiast blood and should probably be in a front driver anyway.

Re: G35 vs I35

It seems like you have your mind made up on the I35 but here’s my comparison between the two:

Infiniti G35:

GOOD
Better resale value than the I35
6MT
5 speed automatic
Faster than the I35
Dual climate control
LED rear tail lights
DVD based navigation
More power
Rear wheel drive
Better handling
Lower coefficient drag, meaning less wind noise and better high-speed stability
MotorTrend Car of the Year award

BAD
First and second year model
Not as fuel-efficient
RWD could be bad in winter driving

Infiniti I35:

GOOD
Little more fuel-efficient
You could get a better deal, since they are not in demand as the G35
Rear window sunshade (Tinted windows are better anyways)
Excellent reliability record
Little luxurious looking interior
Floaty ride (If you like that feeling)

BAD
Front wheel drive
Lower resale value
4 speed automatic
Bland looking
No manual tranny
CD based navigation
No dual climate control
Out dated model
Driving experience is like driving a Lincoln Town Car

Next time run the car naked...with the floor mats, spare tire and the 19 different trunk mats out, you shoul almost shave 2 tents off no BS...also, make sure you are practically on empty for gas as it weighs a lot too.

I am still shocked at the fact that the 02-03 Maxima is running so much better than these cars...very odd...When I ran my wife's car the slowest it ran was 14.6 and that beats almost every auto G35 time, if not all of em, that I have seen on this board...your time is better than hers, but by a smidgen and you have a stick...course I was almost at sea level which helps...

Well keep practicing and get them times down to 14.1-14.2...Rock On.

Re: G35 vs I35

Isn't one reason for the Maxima being fast because of its weight and the other reason it being fwd and fwd has less power loss to the wheel. Also times can vary based on options on the car. But then again the Maxima is a sport sedan just like the G35 but only difference is looks and fwd rwd. I actually have seen manual I's but that was on an older body I30t before it was redesinged and on a I30 new body. But I do not know if the I35 is manual or not. Well if you want the I35 then go for it. It would be better less G's on the street. What I dont get is you say the I35 felt faster? I could understand that in a Maxima because of tq, steer but actuallity is both cars are doing about the same.

Re: G35 vs I35

In my opinion the I35 is a box - not very good looking at all. The styling on the G35 is much nicer. I would bet that people in their 50's and above would like the styling of the I35 while those in their 40's (of which I am one) and lower would prefer the styling of the G-35. Not even close!

Re: G35 vs I35

I have to say that both are great cars it just matters what you like. Luxury with some performance vs. performance wtih some luxury. The I35 felt notable slower that the G35. The I35 did feel like the 7.1 secs I saw in the mags.

Re: G35 vs I35

The I35 comes with LSD and if you put the 04's Maximas intake and cats and bose in the I35 you got one sick car here. I am going to do that when I get me I35

Re: G35 vs I35

I have to throw in my 2 cents here. My 03.5 G35 is at the dealer getting some of the squeaks and rattles out of it so they give me an I35 for a loaner. Within ten minutes of driving the 75 miles home from the dealership, I thought, this would be a great car for my mother (she is 62)! She likes that big car floaty feel, front wheel drive for the winter, large displays, and big rotary *****. Everything an aging person would want. My mother would never experience the awful torque steer because she would never accelerate that hard. The seats are very comfortable, just like the couch in my living room. The instrument panel isn't cluttered up with extra stuff, just a big glowing speedometer and a tachometer of to the side. Oh yeah, that handy moonroof switch. Slide the switch halfway, the roof opens half way. WOW! I had the I35 all weekend and felt my hair greying and arteries hardening. Then at the Dunkin Donuts, I get out and a 70+ year old retiree with florida plates on his Buick Roadmaster gets out of his car, gives me an enthusiastic thumbs up, and says, "That's one smart looking car you have there!" Dear Lord! Please let my G be ready today!!! I am 35 and just not ready for a "Smart" looking car. Sporty, hot, fast...those are the adjectives that I really like to hear when describing my vehicle. The I35 REMINDS me of my old company vehicle, a 97 Ford Taurus.

Re: G35 vs I35

Well for me the I35 did not feel like an old person car. It feels like a fast power car. I got my I35 over the weekend and its a nice dark blue with a 5speed auto, hlsd, fully loaded with the wing and I have the 04 Maxima's intake and cats on order. Man my baby going to be sweet and fast.
