Re: *CRY*

I feel your pain, man. It totally sucks how those boulders can jump out right in front of you . My poor G has been in the shop for the last week and has a couple more to go. Here's a pic.
Yep, that's the new four wheel steering option where the back wheels can turn around about 15 degrees. Cost to remove four wheel steering option = $4800

Re: *CRY*

Oooh- ouch! How'd that happen? I'm pretty luck to have gotten away with a hood/bumper combo. Still praying for no undercarriage damage.

When I went to go give the collision center my keys (I dropped it off on Sat. after it happened, they weren't open), I opened the car to get something out of the backseat... and there was a spider web dangling from the roof. I almost shat a brick. How is it supposed to stay clean without me there to do it?? Oh well, I guess I'll go get it detailed so I can sit in and incessantly chant "so clean.. soo... clean... clean.. yes..."

Re: *CRY*

UPDATE

The collision center for Infiniti just called-
$2,400- new bumper, grille, hood, splash guard, underbody kit
6 working days.

Could have been a heck of a lot worse, and I think my lucky stars that it ended up this way.

Re: *CRY*

Ouch GeoBau, $2400 is quite a bill. I hope your G is back to new as soon as possible. Since all your damaged parts are being replaced, this repair will look perfect.

To answer your question how I bent my suspension, I was oversteering through a turn when my VDC kicked in and did something really screwey and slid the tail out the OTHER way. I was taking a left turn with the rear swinging out to the right when all of a sudden I hear a *BZZZZZ* and the rear swings the other way. I ended up hitting the median; not particularly hard and not particularly fast, but enough to bend most suspension bits in the back left. When my car is back, I'm taking it to an empty lot and experimenting with the VDC to see what I can expect in the future. The VDC was "off" at the time this happened. I got lucky in that there was no body damage, not even a scratch.

GeoBau - I just want to say, dude - I'm totally sorry, but it sounds like it will all work out.

Re: *CRY*

marcinr- That's really odd! Never heard of that happening before. Glad you didn't get any body scratches! Not sure which I would prefer, although I won't be able to wax for 2 months now

ghostie- Thanks man, the kind words are appreciated. Hope this is all over soon...

Re: *CRY*

Just to update anyone who wanted to know- they put it up on lifts and found no underbody damage. They said that this is atypical, and that usually there would be a lot of damage, however the G took a beating and didn't tear apart. Good news for me to hear...

Re: *CRY*

What was initially a 4 day job for less than two grand is now going on day 26, and um... slightly more money. At first, they just assessed the superficial damage-- hood, bumper. Then, they put it on lifts and ooooh no. Lots of undercarriage damage. Since then, the wrong part was sent to the collision center THREE times from Infiniti for the fan. Considering 5 day work-weeks... it sucks. That's the bad news.

The good news? I get it G BACK TOMORROW!!!! Oh, sweet merciful Lord, how I've missed it.
