*CRY*

Stop sign + big tree hiding stop sign + T intersection of loose gravel on asphalt + 45mph + tree + utility pole wire = NOOOOO!!!

I whipped out the camera phone and took pictures with everyone here in mind... I was only hoping my G's photo debut would have been under better circumstances. I'll upload them in the morning (it happened at 2am, it's now 12pm... just got home from dealing with it... it was literally IN a tree-- had to cut the tree down to get it out).

I think I'm going to cry.

Re: *CRY*

I'm pretty new around this site but thought I'd extend my hope that you are okay- accidents are definitely serious, dangerous things...Vehicles can be replaced, people can't...

Re: *CRY*

Thanks for the kind wishes...
The car was actually driveable off the scene-- much to my surprise. I called AAA, but from that point it took about 4 hours to get the car out. First of all, it was marooned on top of a boulder, keeping the rear wheels from hitting the ground, second, it was actually in a tree- the car went right at it and just plowed it down, so it was also on top of that.
The greatest help was the two guys that work for the power company... there'd been an outage a few miles away or something and they saw the car and stopped by to help. They got a chainsaw and shovels and we got it out of there eventually.
Now for the damage.
As far as I can tell, there's only superficial damage; the hood and bumper will definitely need replacing, and there are scrapes on either side of the car from the heavy wire, but other than that all is perfect. I am really really awed at how amazingly well this thing held up, considering it hit a tree, boulder, and utility wire.
Like I said, I got pics... I've even got pictures of the hidden stop sign that caused the accident, and everyone I've talked to said the damages should be paid for by the county since it's such a poorly marked intersection. We'll see about that, it's not my number one priority right now.
Thanks again, I'll keep you guys posted as to what's going on...

Re: *CRY*

Pictures from the accident... sorry about the quality, it was taken with my camera phone... not bad for a tiny lens.

The stop sign that caused it all... it was 2am, so I couldn't see it til I was about 10 feet away

About 2 hours into the extraction, we got it off the ground and pulled the boulders out from underneath then cut up the tree with a chainsaw...

Close look at the damage...

Another look...

I'm thinking new hood and definitely a new bumper. I was going to clean the bugs off the bumper today, so I guess this is a roundabout way of doing it.

I see you still have your sense of humor, LOL... which means you walked away fine! Looks like the G will be okay with a a little TLC.
