G35 Sedan 1st Generation Stillen Exhaust

I have the 1st generation stillen exhaust on my 04 sedan and the sound is too loud and droning for me. Is there any modifications that I can make to tone down the sound to make it more pleasing to my ear. I love the sound on accleration, but on the freeway the droning is almost unbearable. I have heard that there is something that I can do to the resonator, but I am not exactly sure.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Vodka, he's not kidding. He's been drooling over your car for quite a while now.

There is someone who made some changes to his resonators/pipes to change the sound. I'm not sure who it is but hopefully he will run across this thread. You might also post this up in the exhaust forum to see if it would be more visible there. Good luck!

Do a search for "Stillen Sedan Exhaust."

Numerous people have changed out mufflers/resonators, off the top of my head I remember DaveO, GurgenPB, and Hydrazine.

with regards to changing the muffler of the first gen stillen, i was
about to try it before i had to sell it..

anyways, i believe Tony (Motordyne) has done that to his car if
i am not wrong. He put two magnaflow straightthru mufflers in
place of the stillen muffler

good luck

I loved the sound of the Stillen until I installed the Kinetix resonated testpipes. The car hauls *** but was LOUD! I had to cut out the old 14" resonators and welded in some 28" 2" dia glasspacks. Did the trick. Same power and much, much quieter. I think thats probably what Stillen did on the 2nd generation kit. Just extend the resonator length. Theres plenty of room to do it. They should have done that from the beginning. Also adding some braided connectors before the X to reduce vibes would be a nice touch.

If it's inside cabin noise you are concerned about try dynomat or B-Quiet... that's what I plan to do. There is a review of B-Quiet in SportZ mag... DaveO uses it - apparently it's quite a bit lighter than dynomat, so I'll probably go that route.

Of course if you are trying to tone down the sound all together this is pointless
