A/C econ?

Just picked up my G35. It is my understanding that "Auto A/C econ" saves gas by using the A/C less, but it is locked onto "outside air" in that position. I would think that recirculation would save more energy because the air is already cool. Am I missing something?

Re: A/C econ?

It will automaticlly go into either outside-air or recirculate on either Econ or standard AC. My Econ AC uses the recirc. mode when it is very hot, but only until the car cools considerably, then switches to outside air.

Re: A/C econ?

Does anyone find that their cars blows out a lot of warm air even when turned down to the lowest temp setting (when A/C is off)? Everytime I do not need the A/C and want to open the windows, there is warm air blowing out. I usual just shut the whole thing off and let fresh air cool the cabin. Is this a defect in my cars production? Any comments or suggestions?

It's still a G thang!!

Happens to me too. When it’s about 70° or so and I just want cool air from the outside to come in through the vents, it comes out hot and muggy. I guess its cuz the A/C external air intake is in the engine bay and sucks in the hot air from there.

Re: A/C econ?

With the A/C off, it blows a little higher temp because of the original setting; 72, 74, etc. Try holding down the temp guage for a few seconds with the A/C off. It will adjust (even though you don't see it) down to 60. The incoming air should be cooler. When you turn the A/C on the next time, it will be set a 60. This is just a little trick I stumbled across.

Re: A/C econ?

Check the FAQ/DIY section. There is some good information on why hot air makes its way into the cabin. I am going to show it to my service guy and see if he has heard about it yet. Air that warm should NOT be blowing in on vent, no way.
