rx-8 or G35 sedan

Hello everyone. I was wanting some imput on whether I should wait 3-4 more weeks on my rx-8 or if I should go down to the infiniti dealer and drive off in a g35 sedan auto with sport and premium package. I love both cars and the prices are comparable. Try and help make my decision easier.

Hmm... let me hop onto a G35 website and ask everybody if I should buy Random Car A, or a G35. I wonder what they'll say....

Re: rx-8 or G35 sedan

i will say "buy that random car"...you can NOT reallly compare RX8 to a G sedan anyway, saw couple RX8 drive around here last few days, boy that thing is UGLY, it really is, no joke, its on the same line as an WRX, flat roof and buged eye headlights and back window is like, it gonna blow out at any timew and whats up with those extra doors???.. wait a sec......oooooh i get it now, the extra doors so you CAN compare it to G sedan...hmmmmm...... nice touch Mazda.....s.w.

Ignore Ryoken he hasn't been getting much sleep lately. But he does have a point. Depending on what you like high reving no torque RX8 versus lots of torque V6, I think no problem, I'd get the "G".

Also 2 different cars entirely, so you cannot compare apples to apples.

Now if they had put the 3 rotor in the RX8, different and more difficult decision.

Re: rx-8 or G35 sedan

Hey, Merlin! I only have one response to that: *yawn*

The "no torque" didn't seem to be much of a problem for the RX-8 I saw Sunday at the local autocross. It pulled pretty strongly off the line and out of the corners. The announcer even made a comment about it, after watching it tear away from the starting line.

I, however, will keep my larger trunk, DVD nav system, and much better looking sheet metal.

Re: rx-8 or G35 sedan

Too bad that mods on the Rotary are going to be slim to none...The engineers got this particular engine to be so efficient that it can't be turbocharged without cost-ineffective R&D and massive expense to the consumer...I guess that's kudos to the design team...Another amazing sports car name goes down in flames...That, and the RX-8 is so ugly a recall should be immediately executed and a body kit should be installed to correct the problem...

Re: rx-8 or G35 sedan

I hope Mazdaspeed corrected the problems they foresaw with installing a turbo..Months ago I read it was running in such a way a turbo was supposedly out of the question...Personally, I'd never purchase an RX-8 but that's just me...RX-7, sure, but the Z is one of the few sports cars that got it right and didn't ruin its predecessor's name...The new Supra isn't looking too hot either, nor are the pricing plans...

Re: rx-8 or G35 sedan

I was down to the same 2 cars myself. I just sold my 93' rx-7 because with two young kids I needed a 4 seater. I have been considering the G for a while but wanted to wait until I saw the RX-8 before making my final decision. I went to the dealer as soon as one came in (2 weeks ago). I thought it was okay, but I was not overly impressed! The look, inside or out, didn't do much for me. The G is a sports SEDAN, the 8 is a SPORTS car with 2 rear seats. If you want performance mixed with luxury, go with the G. If you want a sports car look with decent performance choose the 8. The rear seats are a pain to get in and out of though, so if you plan on having people back there a lot, kids or adults, I'd think twice. I hate the 2 tone seat option and I'm not a big fan of black leather. I prefer tan (willow) which the 8 does not come with. If you think the G will be bad in the winter (if you live up North) the 8 will be even worse. That's definetely more of a summer car than the G. Also, I am looking for an automatic. The G's 260hp blows away the automatic RX- 8, only 210hp. Too many check marks on the G's side for me. I'm buying the G. I'm taking one out for the day this coming Monday and making my deal shortly after. Just trying to determine what options I want - Sport Susp?, Aero package?, etc. Good luck.

Re: rx-8 or G35 sedan

I also had an RX7TT, fast and fun but no more Mazda thanks. A great design with poor production implementation. Many E36 M3 owners were former RX7TT owners who switched rather than fight. The BS about the new Renesis engine and RX8 looks just like what was put out for that car. All new engine and oiling systems, blah, blah, blah. Please excuse my scepticism but if you like it, get it. My vote would still be for the G.

Re: rx-8 or G35 sedan

I'll wait for Mazda to come out with a new RX-7. I loved my FD. If it wasn't for the fact that I never got to drive it because of the 2 kids I would have never sold it. I figured driving a G every day is better than looking at an RX-7 in the garage every day.

Re: rx-8 or G35 sedan

I wish the new RX-8 came with a twin turbo rotary engine, than I'd really consider it.
