Not sure about the 17s but if you figure that the sedan sport pkg 18's weigh about 22-23 lbs, the 17's weigh about the same or a bit less. They're both cast wheels.

This thread (https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sedan-v35-2003-06/62461-weighed-sedan-18-wheel-today.html) shows the 18 inch setup weighs about 49 lbs. The Goodyear tires weigh 27, so that leaves the 18 inch wheel at about 22-23 lbs.

With the R6s weighing 29 lbs, you're adding about 6 lbs at each corner. Here's what I ended up getting instead as my winter setup. I weighed them when I got them. They're about 23-24 lbs - a lot better in regards to weight. They're 18x7.5 TSW Volcanoes. +40mm offset. $199 each.

Thanks for your info. You definitely have a point there. the 6 lbs does add up. I still have plenty of time to decide what setup I want to get but thanks for your info. I love this forum.

Probably want a new set in spring 06 (we'll see) but just wanted to ask and get some opinions. I can't stand the crappy Horenza's anymore. I don't want to spend too much on wheels and I see some on sale ones at tirerack.

They are 18x8, +35mm offset, 26.5 lbs, bolt patter 5-114 for $159 each. They also have a grey finish for $169.

I also like this one too. They are 18x8, +38mm offset, 29 lbs, bolt patter 5-114 for $249.

Will both of these fit into my G35x with no issues? The +35mm would line up better with the fender right?

Any suggestion would be helpful. Again not looking to buy immediately unless they have super good deals.

Chico, our wheel expert...will they fit?

Again, there are no options to lower the X models yet, so would these 18x8 make the gap any bigger or smaller? I wish the X can be lowered. Hopefully in the future...

Seems like 245/40/18 might be the wheel size to go with? Or is that too off the speedometer?
Yes they will fit just fine. But I'd use either 235/45/18 or 245/45/18 all around. The ones you mentioned are too short and won't help you reducing the gap.

Another option that I think is the BEST if you want to stay with 18's, is to go with the coupe 18's. You can find a nice set for about $600 to $800 and they will fit perfectly flushed with 235/45/18. I know 'cause that is what I have as my winter set up.

Here is a pic.

+1. Sometimes I think back and wish I would've gone this route for my winter setup. The coupe 18's fit nice and flow well with the car.

Chicooooooooooooo...I've been patiently waiting for your reply. You are the man as far as tire fitment goes.

Seems like 245/45/18 would be a better choice. Wider is always nicer. That plus you can't buy anything in the 235/45/18 size. As for 35mm / 38mm offset, 35mm lines up better on the fender right? The coupe 18's are 35mm right?

Your setup definitely looks good. The problem is my 17's almost look IDENTICAL to the 04 coupe's 18's so it's like paying more for almost the same rim. Don't you think it looks almost identical? Does any of the 03/04 coupe fit my car? I thought some of them are stagger and isn't the sports bigger?

Does the 245/45/18 close any of the fender gap at all?

Yes, +35 offset will be closer to the fender line. If you go with 18x8 +35 or +38, you can use 245/45/18 all around and will be just perfect.

The coupe wheels are 18x8 +30 all around. The tires on the coupe are staggered so you can't really use that on your X, but you can use the wheels just like I did.

The 245/45/18 will help you reduce the gap and will look nice and flushed in all four corners.

BTW, yes the 17's are similar to the coupe's 18's, but you'd be surprised what a difference 1" makes on the appearance of your car and they are light.

So I guess 30 offset is even better. Yours line up very nice with the fender. By I don't see any 30 offset on tirerack for 18 inches (at least for the ones I've checked). My stock's are 45mm no wonder it's so tucked in. I think the coupe's would work if I purchased 4 (FRONT) rims right?

Yeah, the 18 I am sure would make a big difference just looking at it but the style is just too similar I think.

245/45/18 will reduce how much of a gap though? I really doubt much right?

I think the best setup is what big daddy d has. Which is 19 on his X and reduced the fender gap. I forgot if it was 19x8 or 8.5 and the size was 245/35/19 ?

But for that size of tires, it's soooooooooooo expensive.

Mike if you want the 19" wheels and tires shop eBay you can find good deals on wheels and tires there slightly used I went that route and ended up saving over a grand. As far as the wheel offset get the +35 or +38 a +30 will stick out a lot but if you don't mind then no problem. The 245/40/19 will fill up more of the wheel well than a 245/35/19 but as stated before you are increasing the diameter of the wheels over stock. I went with 245/40/19 and I did notice some what of a lag in take off but my overall set up is lighter than my stock 18" wheel were by 1lbs on all corners so it could be the gripper tires. I wouldn't get a wheel with a lip if you want to reduce the appearance of wheel gap. I think a lip will make the gap look even bigger. You want to stick with a wheel that pushes that spoke down to the walls of the tire! 19" coupe wheels would look great with spacers to push the rear wheel out to the fenders like other's have done.

Since you have an X it's important to stay as close to the stock tire height as possible. That said, your wheel gap will be the same, unless you change the suspension.
