2006 G35 Sedan AT - Tranny Power Ratio

Can someone post the power ratio on each gear of a 2006 sedan with a 5-speed automatic transmission.

Don't know what a power ratio is, but if you mean gear ratio, the gears in the 5AT are (and have been since 02)

1st 3.54:1
2nd 2.26:1
3rd 1.47:1
4th 1.00:1
5th 0.83:1

Thanks. I was comparing them to the Toyoto Avalon which are listed below:

1st 4.235
2nd 2.360
3rd 1.517
4th 1.047
5th 0.756

I notice that Avalon has some slightly higher gearing than the G35, but the Avalon weighs about 100 pounds more. Also the gear differental in the Avalon is 3.08 where as the G35 Sedan is 3.30. What do u all think about this?

The G has closer gear ratios and is setup to be much more sporty. The Avalon is nice, but its a boat. Its not a sporty vehicle.

LOL. So you want the gearing in the Tanny to be closer instead for further apart. Thanks for the response.

Uh.. ya

The engine can stay reved up higher where it creates more power.

From Infiniti.com:

Short throws and close gear ratios keep you in the soul of the engine's power curve as you shift. Infiniti engineers extensively researched and developed shifter speed, feel and response to find the perfect balance in the 6-speed manual transmission. Then matched it to a limited-slip differential for more sure-footed delivery of power. See for yourself. Happiness is just a short throw away.

Now granted, that is talking about the manual but the same idea applies for the automatic, especially in manual mode.

You should do some reading. Dont take me wrong, I love Toyotas. I have a v6 xle camry which I use as my commute car for now and its great. The avalon isnt a sport sedan, its more of a 'premium sedan' or whatever the toyota lingo is. Its a very smooth car with great features. They dont want you to be at 3k rpm plus when cruising around... Infiniti on the other hand....

Mathematically, the ratios extrapolate to:

Avalon

1st 4.235 x 3.08 = 13.04 overall.
2nd 2.36 x 3.08 = 7.27
3rd 1.517 x 3.08 = 4.67
4th 1.047 x 3.08 = 3.23
5th 0.756 x 3.08 = 2.33

G35 Sedan

1st 3.54 x 3.357 = 11.88
2nd 2.264 x 3.357 = 7.6
3rd 1.471 x 3.357 = 4.94
4th 1.0 x 3.357 = 3.357
5th 0.834 x 3.357 = 2.8

As you can see, there is a slight overall advantage (mathematically) in first gear......After that, advantage Infiniti.
But as has been pointed out, all other advantages are enjoyed by the INfiniti including power, weight, and handling.

FWIW, I'd love to see a 6 or even a 7 speed auto in our G's to further enhance performance and to keep ratios close.
A slightly deeper rear gear (a 3.5 or 3.6) would help too without hurting mileage too much.
C.

2007 Toyota Camry 3.5L V-6

Than the new Camry is going to have a better tranny power ratio setup than the Avalon with its 6-speed auto. The gearing is listed below:

1st - 3.300
2nd - 1.900
3rd - 1.420
4th - 1.00
5th - 0.713
6th - 0.609

Differental Gear = 3.68

V-6 3.5L dual VVT-i
HP = 268@6200rpm
TQ= 248@4800rpm
