05 G35x seems sluggish after 100
My 05 G35X pulled pretty hard all the way to the limiter at 137mph. I mean, its not like my cammed 378whp gto does to 180mph+, but still not bad. Like most cars, it slows down the pulling at 120+, and from 130-137, it definitely was slowing down, but it purred along at 137 for a good while with no problem.

(due to the 149mph V rated tires)
You have a problem.

no problem here, prove me wrong. The car does not pull above 137mph. I assumed it had a limiter. It is not rpm limited, nor is it drag limited yet. Have you been faster in an X?
The secret is knowing the tyranny's shift points when in full auto. The autos gear choices sometimes **** me off when not in manual mode. The sweet spots seem to be 36mph and 75mph. Anything around 80mph = boring.
Oh and the rev limiter is higher than 140mph....dont ask me how I know.
The car is very stable above 130mph.....feels like going 80mph. Im very impressed with stability and response @ that speed.

I'd lvoe to ride in one of those things. Find a straight stretch of road, and test it. Then come back and tell us how it was =D
We have had our X at 137, and it dident want to go any faster. Let me check my phone (i took a speedo pic)
What its showing is about 139mph. We had a strong head wind (SD is very windy) so that may have been a factor.

They are just slow at those speeds. Its like, comon, comon, 140, 140. ANd its like 135,.......135.5..............136................. ...........136.5.................................. ....137..
and so on
and so on
I think the only time I've had my G over 90mph is at the strip and I think the fastest I've had it up to there is about 103mph or seeing. My car sees 100mph in a crack over 14.3 seconds. I ain't complaining. I have no use nor need for going any faster than 85mph on any public road either. At WOT above 50mph, the accleration Gs taper off dramatically for most any car unless you're talking about some strong runner car with a heathly big engine like an LS1, Viper, or an exotic. Most of us like the acceleration Gs more than just what the speedo is indicating.
Another misleading thing about a G35s acceleration is it's flat torque curve, fat powerband, fairly refined ride, and noise suppression. What you get is a car that doesn't feel as fast as it really is. An EVO/STIs feels the exact opposite. These cars have relatively peaky powerbands, no real sound insulation, they vibrate, they have deep gearing, and loud OEM exhausts. These cars basically overwhelm the senses and make it feel like you're going a lot faster than you really are. In terms of topend acceleration, these cars aren't so hot. They get killer ETs due to excellent 60 foots because of the AWD, but their trapspeeds are usually only in the 99-102mph range. That's stock G35 terrority. From a roll, a stock STI/EVO would be hard pressed to pull a G35 at speeds above 20mph. Look at the powerbands and power to weight ratios and you'll see why.

well i brought it up to 130 on sunday morning - still had more strength to keep it pulling, it all depends on where u start pulling from i think... going from 85-100 is slower thant 75 -100 i feel after it just feels slow from 100-110 but then pulls a lil better
Sti and Evos are still very fast cars. Dont say they are slow. They are speed restricted to 150 but would go far past that. I know, becausei have ridden in them. They do rattle and shake but they have 300bhp stock. They are light as hell. And they smoke corvettes on the freeway. Plus at highspeeds they keep pulling. They are not slow as crap like the G once you pass 110.
powerto weight. The Gs are heavy. Unlike an STI. A 4 cyl with 300 hp.
pfft. STI/Evo=butt rape a G
