limited slip

Hi everyone, I just purchased a 2004 G35 6MT sedan with everything except nav. One thing I noticed is that is one wheel peals alot. Isn't it suppose to be limited slip? Car only has 23000kms on it. Just wondering if I should take it back to the dealer.

Thanks!

All 6MTs come with the sport package and limited slip. People, limited slip doesn't mean infinite grip. You'll still peel out.

I know what limited slip is.. I have had in every vehicle I have owned. I'm just saying this one seems to really one wheel easily and I was wondering if it is just like that in all of them.

Do viscous limited slips last forever? Perhaps yours is no longer working?

You're making me question now if I have VLSD. I've got a 2004 5AT with Tire and Wheel package. Anyone know if I've got VLSD?

I read somewhere that the 04 5AT's that had the performance package have it, but is the Tire and Wheel package the same as the performance package?

Also viscous slip differentials only "lock" to about 20% or so. At least that was the way Nissan built them in the past. So it's still possible to spin one wheel.

I guess you need to grab your VIN and run it by Infiniti so they can determine exactly what you car came with.

When you peal out there should be an adjustment and the "slip" light will show up. I have a 03 coupe and if it ever peals out its not for too long and that light comes up, which makes me think that some torque is going to the other wheel.

The slip light will be triggered by the "Active Brake Limited Slip" which is Infiniti's fancy name for traction control using ABS, similar to the way the VDC operates.
A true LSD or VLSD won't cause a slip light.

I just bought an 03 5AT sedan. It came with premium package, aero package, and the wood interior option. I was told that you can't have the sports package if you have the wood. But I was also told you can't have the aero package without the sports package. Can someone set me straight on this? I have gotten the car to spin out on snow and I get the blinking slip light on the dash. Do I have a limited slip differential???

By the way this site rocks. My wife and kids think I have lost it when I had to show them this cool site I found! I need to get pics of my car posted.

Jeff is right. The VLSD isn't a locker. Also since the unit is vicsously operated, it takes a moment before the clutch packs heat the fluid enough to make the LSD work.

BTW, all 04 G35 6MTs have the Sport Package and LSD. All of them.

I think this is true. I read that viscuous LSDs "react" to slip instead of "preventing" slip. Thus, it's implied that you will get some slip in one tire before the VLSD actually starts transferring torque to the other side.

mgmoreau: I'm confused as to what your car might have and what you actually paid for. It's true that you can't have the sports pkg with wood. Could they have put the wood as a dealer installed option??? Either way, the sports pkg includes the sport suspension and the VLSD. What color are your shocks? The shocks for the sports pkg are red. More than likely, if you have red shocks, I would think you have the sports pkg (which includes the VLSD).

Yeah, aero pkg without the sports pkg doesn't sound right. I wonder if they just threw on a spoiler and called it the "aero pkg"????

it's true, when i take a corner at speed, i can sense the lsd coming to try to limit the slip, which already has happend......the slip light blinking as the lsd comes in to play also........hard to explain......
