did you use this red and white wire with dashs of silver?
(pointed out w/ green arrow above fuse box)

You best bet would be to grab a voltage meter and test out the wire. You should never blindly hook any wires up to any wire in the G/Z. With all the communications lines that run through the car you have no idea what you could be tapping in to, unless you verify it with a volt meter!
