Looks like trouble.........

It seems apparent that g35 sales may suffer from the new 04 acura tsx..... i just read the specs. 360 watt audio, antiskid system, 2.4 liter i-vetec 220 hp, perforated leather, navi with vioce control, cool side markers on sideview mirrors (like mercedes), close ratio 6M/T, and looks that can match even the great G35 itself! all starting at about $25,000 base! looks like infiniti has to do something quick to fight off the superior build quality and resale. I'm a die hard nissan/infiniti fan if there ever was one, but this looks like it can get ugly....

Re: Looks like trouble.........

is the 220 hp not type-s? cuz if it is, this car is losing a little power.. hopefully they fixed some of the transmission problems associated w/ previous TL models.

the 04 tsx is not to be confused with the 04 tl. They are totaly dfferent cars. The new tsx is a rebadged JDM accord. the new tl will be more expensive, with g35 matching power. The tsx will have less power than the g35, but is lighter and also handles really well.

It does look sweet. But I wouldn't pay it much thought because...

1. The front resembles the Mazda 6
2. It will likely take sales aways from its bretheren the TL and CL.

Re: Looks like trouble.........

It's a smaller car than the TL, it's a Euro Accord. Totally different car than the TL.

Secondly, that wagon aint too sleek IMO. IT looks like it got major ghetto booty.

Thirdly, I don't think this TSX will slam into the sales of the G35. It is a FWD much smaller car. totally Different category.

Re: Looks like trouble.........

the JDM accord was released b4 the mazda6, so u can only say that the 6 copies the tsx. TL fights the I35 more, (based on luxury, not sporting) plus tl is blisteringly bland. CL look like a REALLY screwed bad version of an accord coupe which doesn't look too good itself. TSX is a more light-footed is300 fighter-type car. places it in direct competition with ur G babies.

NOt really, It is FWD. That's why the main comp for a G is not the Acura but the BMWs.

Re: Looks like trouble.........

even if i is FWD, doesnt mean it handles bad. Take for example: Alfa romeos are FWD, quite respected for their handling characteristics. i believe mazda 6 is FWD as well, also qite an agile handler. rsx-s, integra-r, celica-gts, the list goes on and on

Re: Looks like trouble.........

i don't think we have too much to worry about. the G is a very unique car. not a revamped version of any other. i remember seeing the skyline when it was only available in japan. but now, i think about it and realize that i pretty much have the skyline. i didn't think it would happen. (remember the skyline in "need for speed".. it was always my first pick).. if ppl want something different, they'll pick the G. if they want something more staple but w/ similar performance, they'll go for something like the tsx or is. the only other unique car out there right now in this performance class is the mazda 6.. but i still don't see anything too unique in its styling, though that car can hold its own mechanically.

Re: Looks like trouble.........

i could care less. i have the car i want.

a fwd 4cyl sports sedan is not was i was looking for..to me it wil be a 4 door rsx type s. i dont see how it will outperform the current accord that we have now. and the current accord is not match for the g35.

plus i am not to found of a car in which i have to hear scream every time i want to merge. 2500 rpms in the g35 pulls. i cant say the same for a v6 accord much less a 4 banger.

i am enjoying my car,
acceleration,
handling
looks

overallit may be like a Z and a s2000. while the s2000 may be more fun on an open road with twisties, you may not find yourself in a situation such as this daily. the Z is fun everyday.

a true enthusiast wouldnt give that car a second look.
give it respect, but a statement such as "that car is going to hurt me".

if you have a car that you enjoy, why give it up rebadged car that will provide the same enjoyment if not less.

besides, the G has a classy image to it, not riced out, and hopefully wont be.

the tsx will be riced out in the first 6 months.

Re: Looks like trouble.........

yeah.. we can't really expect to have what's best in the market all the time. look at computers. you have the best for about a month and then your comp is obsolete.
i love my G. i know i made a good choice.
gotta be happy w/ what we have or else we'll never be satisfied.
but i don't think that was the point of the thread. the tsx, like many other cars out in the market or coming out soon, is a nice car. i can appreciate a nice car when i see one much like others would appreciate the car we have in the G.

Re: Looks like trouble.........

Not all alfas are FWD. All those cars that you are mentioning do handle agily ... for FWD cars. Mazda 6 is FWD. In fact, I believe that the TSX would probably compete more directly witha Mazda6 than a G. FWD puts it into a different category. True sports sedans or coupes are either RWD or FWD. My roomate has an ITR. It handles very well, especially for FWD. But can it outhandle a Miata on a track? Not usually, and an ITR is about the best handling FWD car out there. I agree with the others in that I wanted to but a RWD sports coupe when I bought my car. I looked at an s2000, a Z, a 330 and finally the G. I would never have considered a CL. I know some people are different, but I really think the FWD puts it in a different class.
