You should be able to tap directly into the rpm wire of any of the six coil packs. I had an rpm switch on my Maxima that activated the intake manifold butterfly valves and we all tapped our switches into a coil pack.

There is a wire, but you'll have to use the FSM to find it. I actually ran two rpm switches at one time (one for the valves, one for a shift light) and I had the shift light tapped into the ECU rpm wire. I did this because at the time I didn't know that I could have simply tapped the coil pack.

The wires that go to the coil packs originate at the ECU under the passengers dash, so you can tap them there. At the ECU you can also find the crankshaft position sensor, the cam angle position signal, and all 6 fuel injector signals.
