Missed first oil change recommendation..worry?

I have an 04 G35s AT, that is approaching 5k miles. I was told that the recommended first oil change should have been at 3500 miles. Should this be something to worry about? Or I should be fine?

Unless your hot rodding in the desert, I wouldnt be to worried about it.
You should be fine, just get it changed out.

Always check your levels (weekly, bi-weekly).

Get it changed as soon as you can. Don't worry about what it might do - you already missed it - you can't go back and do it now.

I was just worried because we hardly drive the G35 and it only gets taken out on the weekends. Thus the low mileage. Thanks all! I will be changing my oil ASAP!

If it sits like that then you may well be needing to get it changed according to time rather than mileage. Oil degrades over time even if it sits.

My dealer stated that he first oil change chould be at 5k and at ever 7500 thereafter....In fact the oil change alert on my navi system did not go off until 5000 mile for the first time....you should have nothing to worry about

Cool! Very interesting how dealers state different recommendations.

How many years or months has it been since it was changed that is another question. An 04 Sedan that has not had it's first oil change , or am I missing something here .

+1. I can't believe folks here are actually suggesting that he should be fine by going over his first oil change. No-one even knows how long the oil has been in the car before the sale.

Sure but remember your dealer didn't engineer the car.

Most told him to get the oil change as soon as he could but it would likely be ok. Now what good would it do to tell him that the engine was shot and he should just hang it up? Assuming he realizes that this was not a good thing there isn't a dang thing that can be done about it now. He's already done it. I think he knows this is bad and will watch about doing it again.

Check your manual. The only REQUIRED service is listed at 7500 mile intervals. They suggest service at 3750 mile intervals but state that you can choose do the schedule 2 list and that is 7500 miles. They did engineer it so I'm guessing they know.
